So, things have not improved with Cora's breathing. She was admitted to NICU last night and started on high-flow oxygen. Chest x-rays came back abnormal, that her lungs were not fully expanding and were hazy, likely from excess fluid.
As of this morning she is doing slightly better with the oxygen, but not as good as she should be so the next plan of action is starting her on antibiotics and additional blood tests to rule out any type of infection or pneumonia. Right now the tests don't really point to infection, but they want to be safe and start treating just in case.
Other than that, they think it might just be a transitional issue and are hoping it will resolve itself with time.
The tests take 48 hours, so they are going to let me stay as a patient until tomorrow and then possibly room-in for the remainder provided the census allows.
Even though they've assured me she will be ok, I'm a hot mess and appreciate any prayers or thoughts that would get me through the next few days and get her back to full health and in my arms.

Agreed with pps. She probably just needs a little help. I know it's hard to see her like that. Try to nap, take lots of pics (to show her what she's overcome) and take every chance they offer to hold her (if she's restricted). Ask the nurses if you have ANY questions about her treatments. They are great resources. Hugs!
FXFY! I could have written that post word for word when I had DS. In the end, all the tests for infection came back negative, he was off O2 after a couple of days and they just monitored him until all the tests came back and his breathing normalized. I know it is rough, but NICU staff is usually the best with communication and keeping you informed/involved! Hope that she is discharged soon!
