I had a D&C yesterday and just posted my long, rambling intro here today but I was wondering when you send the baby (aka products of conception) off for analysis, how long do the results take? What about genetic testing for DH and I? I assume this is done through blood draws but how long do results take? Any other blood test I have had has taken less than a week. i've read a lot about the information these tests can give but most people don't mention how long it takes to get information back although I read recently it took up to four months for some! I'm assuming/hoping this isn't the norm. I'll ask my doctor at my two week follow up appointment but was wondering what it took for you all and if you'd mind sharing what your results told you.

I chose not to send the baby for analysis so I have no idea about how long it takes to have those results back. Now for genetic tests, the results came back in 3 weeks.
Mine came back normal wich is good, but drives crazy because I keep wondering why is this happening if there is nothing wrong with us? I don't buy the "bad luck" thing.
I hope everything comes out normal for u guys and that u can have your answers when the results come back.

First, I am so sorry for your losses. I had my loss a little over a year ago, but as I recall, I was told it would take about 2 weeks but we had results in 10 days, so a little quicker than expected. I am sure it depends on the lab used, though. In our case, turned out it was trisomy 21. I hope your results will be able to give you some answers! I know having an explanation really helped me get some closure. Please be kind to yourself and give yourself time to heal. Take care.

Hi, I was told three weeks, but it took about 10-14 days.
I don't know if you are with an RE, but be aware that the results of cytogenetic testing of the 'products of conception' can be ambiguous. Most, but not all, labs test by taking your sample and growing the tissue in the lab. The results can be ambiguous because YOUR tissue can not always be differentiated from fetal tissue (one stat I read said fetal tissue makes up 1% or less of miscarriage samples) when they select what to test.
So in these cases, the results are reported as a 'chromosomally normal female.' I read another stat that in cases where 'chromosonally normal female' was reported, 30-50% of the time it was actually the mother's tissue.
My results showed a chromosomally normal female, which my RE pretty much discarded.
