becole like crazy amounts. We just didn't think about it when he asked for milk. After sitting down and discussing it last night we figure he was probably getting 40-50 oz a day. 10 oz cup 4-5 times a day. I figured milk is good for him and he wasn't overweight so NBD. Evidently he was doing that instead of eating though because he has ate a ton today! I think the recommendation is 12-16 oz. a day. Soooo yeah. He was getting at least 3 times as much as recommended.
Wow that's a lot of milk. And makes sense if his belly is full of liquid, he wouldn't be hungry. What did you switch to? Is he doing okay with the switch?

I hope he keeps eating well and his digestion calms down.
Your post reminds me I need to keep an eye on Benjamin's milk consumption too. Thinking over it and looking at the size of his usual cup, I would guess he's been getting as much as 30 oz some days.
sisterjanet it's easy to overdo it! When it's a 10 oz cup and they ask 3-4 times a day you think NBD but really it is. Or can be, rather.
No kidding!
We had been using the bigger cup, that might've been 10 oz, and we realized he was getting way way too much milk when we use that one so we switched back to the 7 oz one. He usually gets three or four cups a day, and then I was just thinking about the days recently when I was giving him extra milk if he wasn't eating much lunch, on the theory that it's nutritious and he needs the calories. Whoops. I'm with the boys during the day and then I work late afternoon/early evening and DH is with them, so we'll need to have a conversation about this again tonight.
