Can we just talk about how weird kids are sometimes?

DD will be 3 in December.

She's currently crying because she pulled her own pants down, started walking around and now demands that I have to pull them up for her.

Some mornings I just can't hardly handle how weird kids can be.

I really like the whole analogy that little kids are like drunk people.  I'm pretty sure I may have done this very thing when drunk once.

Kids are SO weird but can be so amusing! This is a conversation I had with the 3-year-old I nanny part-time. We will call him F. Little sister we will call J.

Me: J, where is the baby? (J pokes me in the pubic bone)
F: The baby is in yo PENIS?!
Me: no, I don't have a penis. Who has penises?
F: Boys!
Me: Right. do you remember what girls have?
F: Bagina?
Me: Yup. But that's not where the baby is either.
F: It's in yo belly?
Me: Kind of. But not in my stomach where food goes. It's in a different part called a uterus.
F: Ohhh it's in yo yuuuuutawis!


Kids are THE BEST. The weirdest...but the best.

We laid our 2 year old down for a nap one day and out of the blue, she let out the loudest blood curdling scream and it sounded dire. I ran in there thinking she got her leg stuck in the crib or something. It ended up being one of her stuffed animals dropped outside the crib.

DD says "I fart only" but she's always right. She might not tell us when she poops but she'll always let us know if it was only a fart.

This is so timely. I was just walking my class up the ramp to get to art class and was thinking proudly how nice and quiet they all were. Everyone was walking, everyone was quiet, and everyone had one hand on the railing. Then I noticed my one kid walking up the ramp, head turned to the wall, tongue out, licking it the entire way up. At least he was quiet?

How many times have I wanted to just like scrape the whole top layer of DD's tongue off after she licked the pole/window/seat on the metro?

This feels like a totally legit solution to me. Once when visiting my sister in NYC we were waiting for the subway. As the train pulled up, a little 4 yr old peeked out the window and I smiled at him. He smiled back and waved. And the proceeded to lick the subway window. I think I actually screamed "No!" as it was happening. It was horrifying.

On the bright side, she probably has a killer immune system If it makes you feel any better, in 8 years I've yet to figure out how to keep my Kindergarteners' tongues off of floors, tables, shoes, shoelaces, books, walls, doorknobs, and each other. Telling them it spreads germs seems to fuel their desire...

LO has legitimately scared multiple men this way, especially at Target.

My favorite, though, was when I was going to her dad's work to drop her off with him. Some guy was coming out of his office (looked nothing like him) and LO started yelling, "Daddy!" and reaching towards him. He stopped and had a look of utter terror on his face. He then looked at me like he was trying to remember if he should know who I was and said, "I... don't.... think so?"

I have come to the conclusion that it is a common fear of men who have had relationships that could potentially result in pregnancy that someone will come up to them on the street with a child and tell them they're a father.

DD has done this more than once already. One time we were at a Walmart and there was a man that resembled MH in some ways and DD pointed at him and yelled, "Oh look! It's Daddy! Daddy, daddy, daddy!" The guy blushed and gave a big smile. I said no that's not Daddy although he kinda looks like him. So funny and embarrassing at the same time.
