Showers (Getting ahead of things here, but who cares)

Are you planning that you'll have one?

ST+M's, will you be having a shower? A sprinkle? A sip & see?

Have these thoughts even crossed your mind yet?

I'm pretty sure I wait until someone tells me they're throwing me a shower. Isn't that how that works?

As for me, I'm still playing it by ear. Full on showers and sprinkles are totally the norm here, so we'll probably do something.

I hosted a sprinkle recently that I loved, co-ed, at a park, with a bagel bar. I had some definite feels about a few parts of it that I didn't love as much.

If I could get DH on board, I wouldn't mind something similar, but he wants no part in anything that resembles a shower (they should NOT be co-ed in his mind), but I'm liking just the idea of a sip & see. (And then I don't have to worry about our friends shelling out time and effort to coordinate something)

shadesofgold, I think there's less question about it for your first. Second ones get iffy.

I also almost didn't have one for DD since my former BFF and I essentially broke up over me being pregnant, and no one had offered to throw me one. Once it became clear that xBFF was out of the picture, someone did offer to host, and she did an amazing job, but I was honestly worried there wouldn't be one.

I'm not sure who will throw one for sure but MH's family loves parties.

I don't have many friends and have no sisters. Most likely it will be my husband's grandmother because my MIL hates throwing parties.

I'd like it to be co-Ed but I doubt it will be. It will also probably be at the same restaurant with the same bakery doing the cake that she uses for all the parties she throws. Not my first choice but she's sweet enough to throw showers and it's the thought that counts

Since this is my 2nd I doubt there will be a shower. Someone might throw one if this one is a girl, but I'm not expecting anything.

I would be very surprised if my sister of friend didn't offer to throw me one, especially since this is our first. I will probably go them, which is a five hour car ride. I'm not sure how the timing will work out since my busy season at work is January-April.

I doubt we'll have one. Our families are thousands of miles away and we only know a few people here. Not really worth it.

This is my second so probably nothing. Sometimes the other teachers at school do a lunch with gifts. So maybe that.
I might throw a party in the summer after the baby is born but I won't call it a sip and see.

second pregnancy so probably nothing, but I am totally ok with that! I bought all of the big items in neutral colors so everything can be reused

I know some people on here(looking at you, showers board...) GASP at the thought of a sprinkle, but people here love to celebrate big life events with each other since we are all thousands of miles from home. So it'll be fun

I would be shocked if my family hasn't already planned the entire thing including color scheme, theme, and desert spread. My family LOVES showers & cutesy parties for any and every occasion.

I want to have a diaper party. We have everything from DD so no need for a shower but who couldn't use diapers

I honestly had never heard of a sprinkle until a few weeks ago... on these boards.

This is my second so no shower for me. But around here we do showers after the baby is born anyway. So someone might have a "meet the baby" sort of thing.

2nd baby for us so there will be no shower and sprinkles aren't super popular among my crowd so I doubt it and I'm OK with that too.

In my circle, having a shower/sprinkle is a celebration of a new baby, of life. So if you view a shower as just a reason for gifts, the first one is gift grabby too.

As a STM I really don't expect that we'll have one but we shall see..

DH wants to do a gender reveal party since last time we were team green by my choice he said we have to find out this time...

Last time we didn't even get to make it to our shower..it was planned on Sunday and she came way early the Friday before. So we just had a bunch of gifts from the church and stuff when we came home to sort through.

I guess I'm sure my work will give me one since we always do that since we all love an excuse to eat haha..but other than that if we have someone offer that'll be great...but I don't expect it.

My friend already told me she wants to throw me a shower. I know my mom will want to do something so they will probably work together.

This is my second so nope. And I don't even know what a sprinkle is. We will probably see some of my DH aunts and uncles at my in-laws after baby is born. And all my relatives have a million babies and grandbabies so they probably won't really be interested. 90% of my extended family hasn't even met DS.

I'm with k3am here. For me it's a celebration of life.

I wouldn't enjoy a shower just for me because I don't like being at the center of attention, but I am very excited to have a baby shower for my coworker. I'm thrilled she's having a baby and look forward to having a party to celebrate it. And I'll be happy to bring a gift.

I think I'd feel different if she was throwing herself one(as in no one felt interested in celebrating it) or if I was invited to a mostly-stranger's one as that would feel gift-grabby.

For me, I don't care about the gifts (I can buy my own stuff), but I would love for other people to show they are excited about this baby too by coming to a party and hanging out and talking about it. Signing a book welcoming the baby or something.

Sprinkles do not bother me for the most part. I don't look at showers as gift grabby occasions. I look at them as both celebrating becoming a mom and celebrating the coming of a brand new baby.

As a STM not sure if I will have one or not. Probably depends if this one is a girl or not. We still have most of our big stuff and will be reusing it whether it is boy or girl.

I don't view showers as gift granny unless you throw it yourself.

This will be my second, so no, and no sprinkles. Not judging, it's just not my thing. I'd never even heard of it until TD.
