So I'll preface this by saying that I'm not a really big drinker... But I do really enjoy a nice cold beer or a cocktail a few times a week. However, ever since my BFP I've been wanting a beer every day. It's like the forbidden fruit suddenly seems so much more appealing! Yesterday I went to a birthday party and we were all playing cornhole and everyone kept offering me a beer (I haven't told anyone about the pregnancy yet) and it was hard to keep saying no. Those beers looked and sounded sooooooooo good! I feel like it will be easier once everyone knows I'm pregnant. Anyone else with me on this one?
I switched to decaf so it feels like I'm still having coffee. I don't really drink alcohol so that part is easy for now. I have a wedding to attend in 2 weeks and will be avoiding it there which may raise some suspicions.
I thought I would REALLY miss beer, but I have been feeling so crappy that it has not been appealing at all. It will probably change in the next trimester.

Oh I'd love beer. H and I have been working on the house and it just makes sense to have a beer when you're doing that type of stuff. Quick question if anyone knows.....I thought I read that most paint is safe these days to paint with if your pregnant. But then I further googled and decided against it to be safe. Does anyone know?

I think as long as your space is well ventilated you are ok. We painted DDs room when I was 3 months. My doctor said it was ok as long as we opened windows, etc.
I have been so nauseous that I have not missed wine like I thought, but last night MH was drinking a Not Your Father's Rootbeer and I wanted it so badly! I also am in the coffee tastes terrible boat so I have not really missed it.

I looked into this too. Several reliable sources cautioned against it. I will be leaving that to DH, even though I'd love to paint the nursery together.
I do not drink alcohol or coffee and I've never liked fish, so I'm pretty set. It's lunch meat I miss most. I know it's probably fine, but I'm doing what my doc says, and I naturally fall on the conservative end of things as far as caution goes. If I had a true craving I would follow it -- definitely believe we get those for a reason.

titania - There's a case of Not Your Father's Root Beer in my fridge that gives me the sads every time I open the door. My brother-in-law bought it for me because I couldn't find it anywhere near my house, and the day he gave it to me was the day that I got a positive pregnancy test. Boooooo.
I could use a Stiegl Radler about now! No coffee for me anymore, just tastes bad now:(
That sounds awesome, simply awesome.... Alas, I was only introduced to this glorious brew about a month ago. So sad...
I'm not a huge beer drinker, but this is just about the most delicious thing I've ever consumed. I was only introduced to it this summer and it will be waiting for me in my fridge next June! You know, beer can help with milk production:)
I miss it all, beer, wine, cocktails... I'm on vacation with DH and DS and would LOVE to be sitting back with any one (or all) of those delicious, currently forbidden libations. Flying 6 hours with a 3 year old practically demands a post or in flight drink.

My hubby was torturing me again today by drinking delicious Octoberfest beer in my presence. I told him this was going to be a long 9 months... But on the upside, June is a perfect month for the return of gin & tonics and shandy season. Yumm!

DH had a glass of wine at supper that looked ah-maaazing. I don't miss beer and am doing okay with cutting back on coffee... I would kove some diet coke though. Mmmh.

The same thing happened to me! DH and I were looking for it for months, and finally found it but it was the day before I got my BFP, so I only had one from the night before. It just sits there and mocks me whenever I get milk or juice lol

That stuff is insanely hard to find! I'm in PW county, so my BIL in Fairfax always finds it for me. I've been drinking regular root beer to make myself feel better but it's just not the same

I told MH next time he goes to the store we need plain Rootbeer so I am not too jealous!
I definitely am going to miss beer and wine. Especially since Thanksgiving is in the first trimester and I will not touch a drop in that time frame. With my last baby, I used to have half a glass here and there in the later 2nd and 3rd trimester. Not much but it sure was sweet. I plan on doing the same this time. (Please don't flame me!)
Mehhh not beer this time necessarily, although I was known to sniff DHs last pregnancy, at this point I just want any alcohol and all of the caffeine. DD is sick, cutting eye teeth, and in the middle of a horrendous leap from hell.
