We agreed to take our first respite placement last night! Our family will have two extra littles joining us for Halloweeen weekend. We are expecting two sisters, ages 2 and 4 months. I know it's just temporary but we can't wait to share some love and time with these kiddos. My 3 yr old daughter is excited to share her toys and dress up clothes. Even though I have helped with plenty of placements through my profession, it feels completely foreign on the other side!

It actually didn't go at all We were all really disappointed. The girls had been placed with an aunt, who was a single mom of her own two young kids. She asked for them to be moved as it was too much for her. So they went to another placement a few days before the respite was supposed to happen. I am beating myself up for only being licensed for respite and not traditional foster placement as I would have loved to have taken them. But DH is not as familiar with this foster care world, so he really wants to do respite only for a while.
