I posted about 2 weeks ago about Della being constipated. She was pushing really hard and nothing was coming out. After 2 doctor visits our doctor finally said to see a surgeon because she thought Della lacked anal muscles. So we saw the surgeon today and sure enough she will need surgery. Apparently her rectum does not line up with her anus and the sphincter muscle. Ugh, this sucks!!!! She is such a happy girl, I just hate the thought of her having to go through this but if it will make her better, right? We are headed to a second opinion but we're not too optimistic about a different outcome.
Anyways, thanks for all the love for my J14 baby, it always helps to know that people are thinking about her.
Awe man, I was hoping it wouldn't come to surgery for your sweet girl. Good luck with the second opinion. I hope it's something really simple (even though surgical) for them to fix. I'll be sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers your way. Keep us posted!
Bless her! Hopefully it will be an easier fix than the word "surgery" can make it feel. It is a good thing you all followed up and caught it though, I imagine it could have caused serious problems down the road! Great thing is that she won't remember it all one day and that babies are much more resilient than us grown ups!

I'm sorry the doctors recommended surgery. If it does come to that I can tell you kids bounce back amazingly well from surgery. I hope the second opinion appt, gives you another option. If anything you may find you like that doctor's approach better.
Sweet girl! I'm sorry you didn't get the news you were hoping for. Hopefully the second opinion dr will have a different plan. Big prayers for your little girl.
Poor thing. I hope you get the answers you are looking for at the second opinion, but if it is surgery, then I hope it goes smoothly. It seems like fixing this problem will really help her in the long run.
I'm so sorry, I hope you get better news from the second opinion, but if not then I hope the surgery is simple and the recovery speedy! Babies bounce back so fast I'm sure Della will be a champ!
Side note: My she is BEAUTIFUL and looks so much like her big brother!!

Oh no. I was hoping you would be able to avoid surgery, but at least you have a path forward. Hopefully it'll correct her issues and going forward she won't have any problems at all. Thinking of you all!
I'm sorry it sounds like she is going to need surgery, but hopefully this will be the answer to her problems. I'm sure she'll be an even happier baby once her constipation issues are resolved. She and her momma are both really strong and will come out of this even stronger. Keeping you and her in my T&P's.

Booo! I was hoping you'd get different news. Well I guess in this case, you do what you have to do. Her sweet personality will shine thru this and soon she will be past all of it. Hang in there Mama. You've had more than your fair share fo this kind of stuff.
I'm so sorry. Surgery is never fun (if it ends up coming to that). On the positive side, I have a friend whose child had this surgery and it was straight forward with a relatively quick recovery time. If you can try and find a doctor who has done a TON of them.
