An acquaintance of mine named her little girl Hol.lis Ma.mie. Not exactly my cup of tea, but not as bad as Bruekelen or whatever that letter vomit was.

I only vaguely remembered this and had to look it up, but Breukelen is the original Dutch spelling of Brooklyn. It is still a weird name for a person.

Haha, I would like to say that this makes it slightly more acceptable, but it just doesn't. It's a weird, horrid name for a child.

Well, it also doesn't help that it's not a Dutch name.  So it's not like Schuyler versus Skyler.  It's still the bastardization of a city as a child's name.  A city whose meaning is "Broken land" which is definitely a meaning I'd want to associate with my little girl.
