Hey Y'all,
So Proboards limits the amount of attachments that are uploaded per month, per forum. GBCB, with our collective bump pics and gif-offs, have started to reach that limit.
Uploading smaller pics should help but involves a little bit of extra typing, especially from the app, to change the picture size. It's not complicated, just an extra step, and I was going to put together a tutorial tomorrow since I'm on mobile in the evenings.
Just wanted to keep you lovelies updated and we're all going to have to work so that everyone can have fun together.
Resizing pictures I can do no problem. I do not know how to resize gifs. I have tried and failed lots. Do you know of any way to resize a gif? I would make the one in my signature (the kitten in the turtle one) smaller if I could.
It's ok if the image /gif is hosted on an outside source, like photobucket, right? This limit is just referring to pictures uploaded directly to the forum?

Would it help if we go back a couple weeks and delete some gif threads? I love gif threads but I don't think people will really miss them from a few weeks ago

kristhegirl there was an excellent question maybe you can help us get the answer to. Does this include all photos, including those hosted on other sites? Also, do our siggys affect this count?

Let me ask people who may know. I'm hoping smaller pictures and/or tinypic (or similar) will help (and I'll ask about deleting GIF threads, too, once they're no longer active). I think a lot of people don't realize that the pics are HUGE on desktop when they are uploaded through Tapatalk, but if it's something like the number of images uploaded versus the amount of bandwidth used in uploading that affects our upload limit...suck.

OK all, I have posted the following in the mod board to see if anyone forum-wide might be able to help or if there is a solution someone has (trying to be open with communication for y'all!)
I have some questions from my BMB about how to go about fixing this little problem - I mean, what would this place be without pictures of bumps, babies, and Larry?
- Would uploading smaller pictures, either by use of code or by use of something like TinyPic, help the problem?
- Would it help to go back and delete GIF threads once they are no longer active? (This was a member suggestion and I would not delete threads unless this was an agreed-upon and published practice for the forum at large)
- Is there a way to set the picture size limit across the forum, or to automatically re-size pictures to something smaller than full screen even if they are uploaded through Tapatalk?
Thanks for any help you can offer! I was going to search for or make a tutorial for re-sizing pics when uploading from Tapatalk but I don't want to go through the hassle if it won't help our attachment limit problem. I'm lazy like that.
One of the other moderators suggested linking pics rather than uploading them to Proboards, too, so we'll see if linking adds to the limit, too. (Usually if the image is hosted somewhere else on the Internets it's linked, it's when you post something from your phone or desktop that it is uploaded. I think.)
I believe it only applies to attachments. I got an error when I tried to attach a picture this morning, but then was able to post another linked image.

You should be able to resize a gif the same as you would a picture. I was able to do it with the Fireflies badge in my sig.
I will find the code and post it here:
eta: the code i used in my sig for anyone else that would like to know how to resize gifs or pics:
[*img width=120 height=120]url link here[*/img]
Remove the * and play around with the height width numbers until you like it.

It really SHOULD only be uploaded pics - and I think Tapatalk is the biggest problem, but I want to make sure and then have a solution for people to follow so we don't exceed bandwidth every month! There are over 6,000 (!!) registered users on GBCB now, no wonder we're hitting limits.
