Does anyone's lo have a leap pad? We're trying to decide if we should get Elena the new Android leap pad tablet, or just get the kids version on the Samsung galaxy tablet.

I have a leap pad and ds likes it. I haven't bought any of the extra games but he still enjoys playing on it.

aimeefarrahfowler, could you suggest the weekend after to get together with your whole family? The you could still have all your favorites and get together with everyone. If it's not the exact day that matters, but the people maybe you can still make this work.

oh my gosh, you laides are so sweet! Thank you everyone. Sorry for the post and run on Friday, but I have a happy update!
After my older sister saw ALLL the texts between my younger sister and I (she's a teacher and couldn't look at her phone until the end of the day), she texted us "you guys are being crazy. we are going to do Thanksgiving. Mom's not leaving until the Sunday before Thanksgiving, so let's do it a week early on Saturday before she leaves. I'll make a pie and the rolls. 3 pm is good?" So big sister saves the day and everyone is happy now.

I make this Pumpkin Fluff dip every year that gets eaten up so fast! I get cinnamon graham crackers or sometimes I can find cinnamon chips at Walmart. So easy and so good!!
aimeefarrahfowler, yay! Big sister for the win!! I knew you had a sister, but I didn't realize you were the middle of 3 girls... how did I miss that before?!

Yep! Big sister is 17 months older, little sis is 2 1/2 years younger. They are quite alike so they might as well be one person

DD#1 had the leap pad ultra and she loves it. Avery also uses it frequently. I recommend it.
I'm getting my sister a book for Christmas. She loves the Outlander Serie by Diana Gabaldon, and it's not my usual reading style. Any recommendation?
Do you know if she's read the Lord John series by Diana Gabaldon? If not you could get her the first of that one.
I have no idea what she's read. We both love to read, but we read completely different styles of books, so we never talk about them. I'm addding it to my list of possibilities for sure, but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be wiser to get something very recent or less known to improve my odds of getting her something she hasn't read yet.

We started our holiday baking today. We tried the reindeer cookies by Baker Girl and totally failed to make them look like reindeers. The antlers just wouldn't stick. I'll probably "glue" them with icing when I take them out of the freezer. However we tried a new "gingerbread" cookie and it was delicious: www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/gingerbread-people-62218.aspx
They're not as strong as the usual cookies so more toddler friendly (I think).
I need some help figuring out what I actually want for Christmas and my birthday (10 days later). H keeps asking me what I want, but I seriously can't think of anything other than a new watch. I've been so focused on what I need to get everyone else, I feel like my brain is mush when it comes to myself. So what would you want?
barefoot84 does your sister like celebrity gossip/William & Kate? I just read The Royal We which is basically William & Kate fanfic but it was surprisingly pretty good. I would read it again!
roo1582 I've asked for season 1 of Outlander on DVD, a gift card to Sephora, a sweater from Gap I've been eyeing, gift card for a facial & I'm asking my mom for either Hunter boots or a new Northface fleece.

roo1582, It's always hard for me to come up with things too... my list is kind of lame for the most part...
A new square pyrex (mine broke right before we moved from VA) An insulated Casserole carring bag - for pot lucks A cake plate (I showed this one to MIL as an idea) A Ninja or NutriBullet (single serve size to make smoothies... I have a big blender already) An adult coloring book A 1/4 Zip fleece shirt/coat A new wool coat (I told H about this, But I'm certain I won't get it... I'll buy it with money from grandparents/mom probably)

Sorel snow boots Dutch oven New phone because mine is broken beyond repair and I keep cutting my fingers and ear on it. That's terrible. I dropped it on a cement floor and it just shattered. It still works, but is sharp in some places.

origamimommy What kind of phone do you have? Have you checked Amazon for replacement screens? H just replaced my broken screen, and it only cost me 10 dollars on Amazon... and that's Canadian dollars

barefoot84, I have an iPhone. It actually took the phone portion off, not just the glass on top. At apple, it would cost over $200 to fix and a new phone is $200. I looked online but since the phone itself is broken there's nothing I can do

Are any of you doing anything with your toddlers in the giving back spirit of the holidays? I'm looking for things to do with Tumaini or as a family and I'm not sure what she's old enough to do/understand. We have a "tradition" (we only started last year...) where we go to the grocery store and she gets to fill the small basket with whatever she wants for the food bank. We'll also be baking cookies for everyone (daycare provider, librarian, mail carrier...). Any other suggestions?

barefoot84 I'll usually grab a name from a giving tree at school and have the kids shop for the items with me. Maybe this year I'll have them pick out a toy to donate to toys for tots or the children's hospital.
