Need Refrigerator Recommendations

As I stated in Chat Stew, our fridge decided to kick the bucket yesterday.  While H is trying to fix it, I decided I should do some research in case its officially dead.  What we currently have is probably a 15 year old side by side.  In our condo we just had the basic fridge with the freezer on top.  I know the new style is with the freezer on the bottom.  I'm not sure if I like those since it seems there is no real organization for the freezer but obviously I've never had one.  So I need some help on trying to decide what style to go with.  What do you like/hate about your refrigerator?  If you have the freezer on the bottom, do you like it?  TIA!!

I have a fridge with the freezer on the bottom and I love it. I love have the refrigerator on top so everything is at eye level. I have a separate upright freezer, so I just use the bottom freezer for veggies and poscicles/ice cream and other random things. I think the bottom freezer would aggravate me if that was my only freezer.

Ours is a newer side by side. It's a pretty basic fridge. I think it's a Whirlpool. We have a second freezer so space isn't really an issue. I don't really hate anything about it except that the ice maker jams sometimes. I'm not in love with it either. I just have a hard time sinkings lots of money into appliances. They seem to break easily and cost a lot to fix.

roo1582,I have a freezer on bottom and I love it. I felt the side-by-side we used to have just wound up with a lot of wasted space because so little of what we put in the freezer (large bags/boxes of things we buy in bulk) wouldn't fit in the door compartments or on the shelves. When we moved in February the buyers of our old house wanted our fridge, so we decided to upgrade to a really nice one. We got one with a middle drawer that you can set the temperature on to be a fridge or freezer drawer. We wind up using it as a veggie crisper since we eat so much fresh produce. The freezer we have has a divider in the main drawer that you can move, a top drawer that slides out for smaller things, and a tray underneath the drawer that is really good for large flat items. It's an LG, and if you're looking to upgrade I highly recommend it.

Ooo I am following too. I want a new fridge and my h thought we could get one for our Christmas present. Maybe scope out a good deal Boxing Day.
The only down side to the freezer on the bottom, or so I've been told, is that it is easy for kids to open. Friends of ours have a son and he always got into it. Once or twice they didn't notice and it was opened a crack and let out all the cold air. Thawing their goods.

In our new house we have a side by side and I hate it. I prefer our old fridge on bottom/freezer on top. I feel like the side by sides are so narrow. There just isn't enough room.

Well, it looks like H may have fixed it for now. Now it just needs to last another couple years until we redo the kitchen. But thank you for all your recommendations. It is good to hear that many of you like the freezer on bottom and it isn't an issue like I was imagining it to be. I think it is something I will seriously consider when we get to that point.

I know you don't need any more recs, but my mom got a freezer on the bottom years ago when she redid the kitchen after the fire we had and she loves it!

If we were to get a new one I would definitely get one like that too just because I access the fridge a lot more than the freezer and I hate bending over to get to produce and other foods that we use often. If we had a fridge on top you can easily reach those items you get often. Plus my mom says she prefers the "drawer" style freezer - for her it's easier to keep organized she says.
