Doula Interview Questions

So my husband and I are interviewing a few doulas soon. I was thrilled to find some with openings! I didn't have one for my first birth and really wish I did. My husband was snoozing through my first hour of pushing and I could have used some more support. Anyway, what do you think I should ask a doula?

He was waking up but it was like 33 hours that we've been at the hospital at that point with no sleep. He's a deep sleeper.

I hate to say it but Google it. That's all I would do if I wanted to compile a list of interview questions.. I have a doula but I didn't feel the need to come up with a list. I already know what they are supposed to do (if you don't you'll find that answer when researching questions). I went to a meet and greet with multiple doulas and I liked her the best, and I just asked her what came to mind. They're going to tell you their typical info like what they do and when, etc. so unless you have very specific things that you want I don't see the need.

That still floors me. Dh had worked a double and been up for over 24 hrs when my water broke with DD. He didn't miss any of the labor or birth. He did fall asleep before I did afterwards but not during. I would be mad if he slept at all during it.

I don't fault him too much. I pushed for 3 hours total so he didn't miss most of it. The resident that had been following me all through my prenatal visits came during pushing and nearly passed out too. She had to sit down for a while. It was an exhausting labor.
