Question for other c-section mommas

So, I've noticed that when I sneeze, about 80% of the time I get a sharp pain on one side of my lower abdomen, like basically on the side of my CS scar (the side varies, if I'm lying down on my left, for example, the pain will be on my left, and vice versa). The pains only started a few weeks ago; pre-pregnancy I didn't have any pains like this. Does anyone else have any experience with something like this? (I have an US scheduled for tomorrow so I'll also ask about it then, but in case anyone has experience or info, I thought I'd ask!)

Oh yes. It happens. I fear sneezing (of course I have sneezing fits almost every morning) because of the pain. Not too sure if this has anything to do with having a c-section though. Maybe another BTDT who has had a natural will be able to chime in and give more details.

Thank you! I am a worrier and became (perhaps irrationally) concerned that the CS scar was pulling or twisting internally or something! Is this just a "usual" symptom of a BTDT pregnancy?

Thank you! I am a worrier and became (perhaps irrationally) concerned that the CS scar was pulling or twisting internally or something! Is this just a "usual" symptom of a BTDT pregnancy?

I think a lot of us Csection moms are worried about our scars, Im personally afraid of it ripping open when I get really big. Im sure that wont happen but still. And I dont think I can answer your question. I dont remember the sharp pains with DS, but its very possible that its a BTDT thing.

This 100% for me as well! I will ask at the US tomorrow; I haven't had any bleeding or other issues that come along with the pain, it's just such a sharp pain so directly linked to the sneezing that it's freaking me out. Damn these CS scars and the addition of unnecessary worries on top of the "standard" pregnancy anxiety!

Will do! I'ts not my OB, it's an outside US place that my OB works with, but I will ask the tech for sure.

Could it be round ligament pain? This happens to me when I sneeze sometimes. Happened with my first too.

Where does this pain occur? What I'm feeling is right at the edge of my CS scar; is that where you'd get the ligament pain? (I really don't know!

I'm experiencing this too. Not every time, but it seems if I'm laying or standing in a certain position when I sneeze I feel pain down there.
 
ETA:  I had not thought about this being connected to my c-section.   I just thought there was something weird going on.  

And O.M.G. I had zero fears about my scar tearing or anything until I read this thread. Now I'm terrified. Second time this has happened today.

Lol it's ok.  I'm kind of surprised I hadn't thought about it yet.  Just hope I don't have dreams about it happening now.

I didn't mean to scare anyone! I get kind of freaked out relatively easily, and add in the CS and I'm almost permanently a little anxious lol! I am going to ask the US tech tomorrow about the sneezing pain and I'll report back what )if anything) I find out. As for the tearing/bursting, if it helps to ease everyone's minds, I've read that it is rare and I'd suggest having your OB look at your scar internally if you're worried (like I am lol;)

I mean, Im not highly concerned. I healed fantastically and have never had any complications with it. I just wondered the possibilities, which has now been answered

Same here; great healing and no complications, but monkey-mind is in overdrive with my anxiety lol!

I feel like when I get the RLP it's in that area….  I'll try to pay attention the next time it happens.  My scar is very faint and barely visible.

Ok, so the US tech (not my OB) said it was likely that the pain while sneezing was round ligament pain She ever-so-slightly side-eyed me when I said I was worried about my CS scar twisting or pulling internally when I sneezed, BUT she did say that once the uterus expands more, they'll be able to check on the scar internally to make sure everything is holding up the way it should be vis-a-vis the whole uterine exploding issue and didn't side-eye me at all about that particular fear, so I'd recommend mentioning that fear to your OB/US tech so they can check out your scar internally later on to reassure you!
