I got my results from my 2nd blood draw. The hcg # from the draw on 1/26 was 522. The # on 1/28 was 2,145 which instead of doubling, my #s quadrupled. The nurse was concerned because rapid increasing hcg is a sign of a possible molar pregnancy or a partial molar pregnancy. The nurse spoke with my dr and the doc is fine with my #s but wants me to call asap if I have any major pain or bleeding. I'm trying to relax since my dr isn't worried. But try telling a PGAL brain to sit down and shut the hell up - yeah...it doesn't work to well. My u/s is scheduled for Feb 25 and the nurse didn't see any reason to move it up since my dr wasn't concerned. Man, this is going to be a loooong month.
I'm sorry this is such a rambling mess. Thank you so much for reading it. I'm mobile otherwise I'd offer a huge plate of yummy warm chocolate chip cookies.

Sorry you PGAL brain is acting up. It is totally possible that your quadrupling Betas is sign of multiples. It is a bummer you have to wait so long for your first U/S. I hope the time goes quickly for you.

I know a few of the CAL ladies have experience w/ molars, but off the top of my head I can't for the life of me think of anyone specific. T&Ps that it's nothing (although my first thought was also multiples).

Sorry the nurse freaked you out. I find that a lot of them talk before they speak with doc. Stick with what the doc thinks. One nurse in my old docs office used to freak me out every time I called!

Thanks ladies. I'm trying to "relax & not worry" but I'm not a very laid back person in the first place. I'm just gonna TRY to think happy thoughts and trust my doctor.
(hugs) I know it's hard not to worry. I hope you can find some things to distract you for the next few weeks and you've got a determined little babe(s) in there!
I won't say don't worry, because that just about impossible. Try to to just take it one day at a time, today you are pregnant and you love your baby. Keeping my fingers crossed that you have a great ultrasound next month!
I have always been told that when numbers increase that is good. Also my cousin just had twins and her numbers were like that. =)
I always thought that too. I was super excited when the nurse told me the number. Then she looked at my previous # and said that was concerned and she needed to discuss my results with my doctor because that type of jump could indicate a molar pregnancy. Dang nurse! I know she was concerned but I wish she would have just said she'll discuss it with my doc and leave it at that.

Congratulations! My numbers had more than tripled but less than quadrupled in 48 hours and my dr never seemed concerned at all. I'm sorry the nurse scared you.
