LO has been having food allergy problems for three months now. It started as a mystery illness that caused a runny nose and vomiting. We eventually figured out it was being caused by his soy formula. He is now on WCM 100%. He's had a few more reactions at various times but I've not been able to pinpoint the cause each time.
Today we had to put off his 12 month vaccines because he's having such a bad reaction. His legs are covered in hives. The doctor felt that with the rash pattern it must be a topical reaction, something that got on him, not something he ate. I can't thing of anything that got on his legs. He does have hives elsewhere, but not as bad. He is congested and coughing and it is scaring me to death. I have a personal history of anaphylaxis so allergic reactions tend to frighten me.
I know anyone can become allergic to anything at any time, and this reaction has been going on for three days and seems worse not better. I can't think of anything we might eliminate, and we can't think of any kind of pattern. Doctor says to monitor and gave a few medicines to help.
I'm just very frustrated and kind of frightened about this. Working on an elimination diet to see if I can figure out what else might be causing this and trying to watch for sneaky soy. (It's in everything!)
((Hugs)) I can't imagine what you are going through. I went through this with myself, and once they finally figured out what I was allergic to, it was easy to stay clear and have no more outbreaks.
