It's not quite 5am, so forgive me if this post isn't appropriate. I am trying not to panic. I woke up about 10 minutes ago & noticed I am bleeding fairly heavily. Bright red blood. A gush or two. I don't feel any pain and I *think* its slowing. No tissue has passed.
I'm not sure what to do? I don't want to go to the ER if its not really an emergency, but my heart is in my throat. Advice? (I know-don't panic. But.)
I'm 12w3d.
Update: I called back my midwife later that afternoon since the bleeding had slowed, but still hadn't stopped. She advised me to head to the ER since they would have the equipment to do an ultrasound. Me and husband went, and they did 2 ultrasounds, did a quick pelvic exam and took urine & blood.
The good news is that everything looked ok. The baby was fine and squirming around, measuring right on time with a heart rate of 158. I'm O+, so need for the rhogam shot.
The bad news is that they couldn't determine the source of the bleeding (and I'm still bleeding, although lightly) and there was some unknown bacteria in my urine (my pap smear from my midwife appt a month ago also showed some abnormal cells). I need to follow up with the midwife in a few days, but until then I'm officially diagnosed with "threatened miscarriage" and need to take it easy.
Anyway, thank you for you all your responses. It helped to hold myself together while I was waiting for the results.

girlonabike take a deep breath. Now call your ob's office line. They should have a nurse line that answers 24/7. They will ask you a lot of questions then twll you they are going to call the on call dr. They may have you come to the hospital, but they will tell you if ypu need to go to the hospital or wait for the office to open. ((Hugs)) i know this is scary. I'm sending my thoughts and prayers to.

Your post is very familiar to my own experience. First let me say I am praying hard fornyou and baby. I agree that you should hold off on ER. Call office and see what dr suggests. I would also try to get into the dr. Office for a reassurance ultrasound. Good luck to you

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I'd call the office right now and talk to the on-call doctor. They'll decide if you should wait and be seen at the office, or if they think you should go to the hospital. I'll be thinking of you today. Keep us updated.

I nothing to add to PPs' excellent advice, but just wanted to say that I'll be thinking if you and sending positive thoughts your way. Hope you're able to get in touch with your doctor soon.

This. It sounds very similar to my suhchorionic with dd. Call the oncall dr. That is what they are there for. And try to relax,as difficult as that is. My thoughts are with you.
Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry you're going through this, I know how scary it is. The same thing happened to me last week. Definitely call your OB. When I called mine they had me come right in for an u/s. My bleeding ended up being a random blood pool on my cervix, the baby was totally fine. I'll be praying that it is something similar for you. Please keep us posted, I will have my fingers crossed for you all day!!
