My dog is a rescue and she had some... unique features. We get asked about her often when we go for walks, etc.
I paid $50 for one of those dog DNA tests.

Do you think it was accurate? I've thought about getting one. I have a golden retriever, but he's smaller than a typical golden (60 lbs vs the normal 80ish) and he's fluffier. People ask if he's part chow a lot. He was also a rescue.

I don't know! We suspect she has some Whippet as well as some kind of bully mix, but she also has a curly tail so the vet thought maybe part basenji. Either way the test result said weiner dog / shiz tzu mix crossed with a bull terrier. Not impossible I guess but I don't see it. She's 40 lbs!

I've been considering getting one of these for our dog. People are always asking what he is, and we usually just make up something absurd to keep them from asking more questions.
I've also been wondering about the people DNA one.
I've been so, so tired this week. Earlier in the week, I took a long, hot shower, and it was so nice! I washed my hair, and even shaved my legs! When I stepped out of the shower, I noticed that my (still dry) washcloth was hanging over the shower curtain rod. I had forgotten to actually wash myself. In the shower. I just went with it and tried again the next day.

One of my good friends did the human DNA and it was pretty cool! It shows like what regions your from and a lot of cool info. She found out she was mainly Norwegian. I want to get i done for the BF or for LO. The FIL doesn't know anything about his ethnicity and when asked just says "oh I'm an oakie" so I'd like to know about where they're from
I spent way too much time last night using a random last name generator to come up with another pen name for a book series. I was up an hour past my bedtime obsessing over whether or not the name fit the genre and picturing what a person with that name would look like, act like, etc. I'm crazy, right?
Come to think of it, I should have made a poll on here to get some feedback
ciaomama What type of books do you write? Anything I would have read? I've fumbled around with the idea of writing a book. Probably a bit of trashy romance to get started, definitely under a pen name. I used to love writing short stories, but just can't seem to stay focused on starting anything more. I have a couple of character outlines written out, but haven't been able to fully commit to the story.
I HATE picking names for my characters...that is my least favorite part!

They're short e-books, around 50 pages, on various topics but probably nothing you would have read. They're not terribly interesting, but they generate some extra income. I basically just find an area that has good interest on the Amazon Kindle Store but few available books, do some research, and write a quick book. The one I'm just finishing up is on natural remedies.
I'm working on a concept for a spy-mystery fiction series right now, but the short books keep taking precedence because they only take a few days to write. There's a whole section of the Kindle Store just for short books (under 100 pages). Typically 20 pages in 12 sized font = 30 e-book pages, so you may even have the makings of a book right now! The hardest part is making the time to write.
I paid a embarrassing amount of money yesterday on a pair of designer jeans. I have never worn designer ones before, but I may never go back. It's like wearing soft clothes jeans.

What brand? I want soft jeans.
7 For All Mankind. I got the relaxed boyfriend style. I'm really short so the cuffs come right to my ankle, but I like that look.
paige denim is also amazing and very soft. I broke down and bought their maternity jeans...best decision. I loved them. I haven't wanted to buy expensive jeans b/c I'm still not where I want to be size wise, but 7s or paige will be my first stop when I'm there.
ETA: Oh, and check Nordstrom Rack if there is one near you, they sometimes have great denim finds.
I kind of want to do the DNA test on R now...you know cause donor.
Yes, that would be really interesting! Actually, I think there's some real benefit, especially in cases like yours where you don't have the full history. What kind of information do they give you when you're choosing a donor?
Also, LOL that love tits are currently 'does not find this offensive'.
carseat for the free profile you get very basic info - race, ethnicity, level of school completed, brief medical history on donor and immediate family members.
You can pay more to get things like baby photos, a more extensive medical history (still very brief and completed by donor), an essay, and a staff perception. The medical history is similar to what you complete at a new doctor.
I'm side eyeing that they would withhold any of that information unless you pay for it, unless they're going back to the donor later to ask for more information. Staff perception is interesting! Did you opt for the more extensive profile? I hope the cost for that is somewhat reasonable.

When you said staff perception, I imagine the staff saying "that guy is a total dick".
That you would have to pay extra to find that out is a little ridiculous.
Honestly...the whole donor sperm thing is a racket. I just added up how much we paid for sperm and it was $12,695 when it was all said and done. What's another $75 at that point.
WTAF. Are you kidding?? I'm completely astounded by that price tag, and I'm used to the costs of assisted reproduction. What was included in that price?
carseat 16 vials and shipping. 16 vials is the equivalent of about 1.5 jack offs. They take one "deposit" and divide into about 10 vials.
Flabbergasted.
I mean, I know there's processing that goes into it, but I also know what a sperm wash costs. I honestly had no idea that the cost for donor sperm was so high. I'm feeling some kind of way about that. Really I'm just sorry that there was yet another huge expense added to the process for you two. I expect the cost of a donor egg to be high - retrieving those is a big deal. But sperm? Wow.
Anyway, I'm sorry for all the questions! But I really appreciate your taking the time to answer them. ♥
LOLing at the 1.5 jackoffs... Because I'm vaguely picturing that they asked him to stop half way through the second time. No, no. That's enough. That's plenty for the Mosey household.

Well, you know how men make messes and all.. they have to account for the spillage. They can't even get all their pee in the toilet!
My FFFC: H is going to Vegas next week for work. I'm super jealous because I have never been there andplusalso uninterrupted sleep and all meals provided. I plan on doing some serious shopping while he is away.
I never shower after baths. I suspect I will get flamed for this because "bathing in your own filth!!1!" but if I really felt I were that dirty I would just take a shower.
Wait...what?! You're supposed to Shower, after a Bath??? I have never heard of this or done this in my life.

They're not at all accurate.
There's more variation within a breed than between breeds so there's nothing to compare to.... And the ones I've seen claim to be able to tell you if grandma or grandpa was the whippet. No.
Earlier this week, I saw something weird in E's poopy diaper. I thought it was a worm for about a second and a half and started freaking out wondering what they crap he had eaten or what virus he had contracted. The FFFC part is that I was relieved when I realized it was "only" a Lego. (One of the tiny circular pieces that would go on an axel.) I never thought I'd be relieved to find out my kid had eaten and passed a Lego.
We try to be super careful with where the boys play with their Legos. They aren't supposed to have them upstairs, and E rarely goes downstairs, but shit happens.
I guess I'm a weirdo who showers before I take a bath.
Ditto. But I don't view baths as cleansing, just relaxing. If it's really sudsy, I'll rinse after the bath just to get soap off, but I rarely take a bubble bath.
Hell, I can't even fit in our tiny ass tubs. That's the one thing I miss about living in our old apartment. Garden Tubs. Ahh.
