Winter coat and boot recs

This will be a post and run but I need recommendations for a winter coat and boots for me.  Colorado is not that much colder than Kansas but they do get more snow.  I have boots but they aren't all that warm and aren't really water proof.  Also I need a good warm coat.  I'm thinking north face but I don't know for sure.  I'm asking for them for christmas so I want to know what you cold weather ladies like.  TIA

We've always gotten matching winter jackets and snow pants from Carter's when they have their 40% to 50% off sale. We've also just gotten winter boots from Target (Circo brand). She's always stayed nice and dry!

Tribute, sorels are the BEST snow boots! Price point is ~150 but they'll last you quite w few years. Other good brands are Columbia and hi-tec but sorels are the best. Cheaper ones are totes and khombu but you won't get as many seasons out of them.

For coats, north face, Columbia, or Patagonia are all great options. I love my Columbia, it's thinner, warmer, and has lasted longer than the north face I have.

I have Columbia coats and boots and I'm a fan. I love the look of north face jackets but can't justify the money. I live by a Columbia outlet and have gotten great deals. Also, Columbia coats have a life time warrenty and they fixed a broken pocket for me last year, no charge.

Oh I also live in Rochester, NY and get like a million inches of snow a year.

Columbia and north face here as well. My I sprayed my old uggs with water proofer and use them for snow blowing and just playing around. I don't do a ton of outdoor activities in them. I also have lots of cowboy and muck boots though...

I love my north face stuff! Also smart wool socks. I'm obsessed. They keep your feet "so warm and toast!" (as Robin would say) without ever making them sweaty.

I think it depends on what you are doing. If you plan on winter sports (skiing, snowboarding, etc), then I would suggest North Face or Marmot. They tend to be really warm but without a lot of the bulk. Those are the winter jackets H and I currently have. Otherwise, Columbia is really good for what is usually a little lower price point. H and I both had those until recently when we upgraded to the above.

I'm a Northface fan. It is expensive but you can use the Macy's Friends & Family coupon on it which usually starts the week after Thanksgiving. So 25% off.

I have Columbia snow boots but just got them last year & didn't get much opportunity to wear them so I can't comment.

Another fan of north face, sorels, and smart wool socks. I do love my Uggs for warmth. Mine are pretty old so I did the same as Bantyrooster and waterproofed them for shoveling and running around with the kids. Even when they get wet they still clean up well and my feet are dry and warm.

I'm going to go different. LL Bean. I'll admit they are my go to bc we have a store right here, but their return policy is like none other. You can say "I've had this for 8 year and I just don't like it" okay go pick another one. My zipper broke on my coat and I got a new one that I love even more. And I got great snow boots there, but if anything ever happens to them I know I'll just get a new pair and basically never have to buy again. I always recommend LL bean for all outdoor type stuff. I love everything I have from them.
Also their PJs are the bomb.

I really like my north face jacket. DH has a patagonia. Neither one of us are fans of super bulky coats. I have cheap Totes boots. As others have said, they don't hold up as well as other brands. DD#1 had a pair of sorels that lasted her for two seasons and are still good to go when Avery grows into them.

Um, oops! Sorry tribute17 . I misread your post.   I love my Northface jacket! 

ETA: I also have some Baffin winter boots that my H got me for a gift a few years ago. Honestly, they're the only winter boots that have ever kept my toes warm. I LOVE them!

Thanks everyone!  I always make sure the kids are set but of course I haven't gotten a new coat in forever and the one I have is super bulky so I'm due for a new one.  I'll pick out a couple from a few price ranges and then send them to my mom and she can decide how much she wants to spend.   I'll need to try on boots, especially with my ankle still not 100%.

I got Sorrel boots last year and I love them. They're a little bulky feeling (Especially at first) but they are so warm and if you keep them inside they'll literally last forever. A friends grandparents have had a pair for 10+ years and they're still in great condition!

As for coats, I've always been a big fan of Columbia - they have a TON of newer less bulky options that are super warm. I've owned 2 and love them.

My most recent one though, H bought me for christmas last year and it's an Eddie Bauer coat. It was really warm and it wore well, I liked it. They have a great return policy too, so it's good. But if I had chosen myself I probably would have done Columbia.

PS: Columbia now owns (or at least sells in their stores) Sorrel boots - It's where I got mine last year when they were sold out everywhere else!
