I did an ob search yesterday but still found no one that can see me before the end of December/beginning of January. The biggest problem I am having with this at the moment is insane heartburn. I already had Gerd. I was on medicine 2x a day for it but the problem is the medicine is class "c" so I'm afraid to continue taking it. Does anyone know any over the counter , safe medicine?
My previous mw suggested pineapple for my first pregnancy. It sounds counter-intuitive, but it did help. Apparently pineapple has some sort of enzyme that can fight off the acid. However it only worked to prevent heartburn if I ate some with a meal I knew would cause heartburn (like pizza). It rarely worked if I ate some after the heartburn had already started. I also took Tums when I needed to, when the heartburn got really bad. My ob said Tums was safe, as long as I followed the recommended dosage requirements. Hang in there, heartburn is brutal, and tends to only get worse as you get further along.

I had terrible heartburn/acid reflux when I was pregnant with DD. I kept tums on my nightstand, but eventually I had to go on prescription Zantac.
Have you tried calling your primary care physician? Or the OB that you have an appointment with? While the OB might not have seen you yet, they should be able to talk with you over the phone and advise you on what would be okay and what drugs are approved for pregnancy.

I'll call Monday, they're not open on weekends. Thank you for the idea
Sometimes milk helps me while I'm waiting for meds to kick in. Thankfully this pregnancy isn't as brutal as my others for the heartburn.
Unfortunately, I'm lactose intolerant and the soy milk isn't doing the trick :/ . I feel like I'm forever naming a list of health defects. It's strange no one in my family has ever had any of the medical problems that I do. The doctors are chalking some of it up to me being a premie. I'm glad your heartburn isn't super bad, I would've thought since there is two, then that would me twice the heartburn, ms, etc... I'm glad so far it's not that way for you! I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Well boo. Sorry that the soy milk isn't helping. The ms is definitely double and awful so I'm just thankful that the heartburn hasn't started up yet. I keep telling H that it's because he's bald so the babies are taking after him.

I hope you get some relief soon! I know how much heartburn stinks. I have already had it a few times. I may not get much MS, but the reflux will make me barf anyway, so it doesn't matter!
Also, when you do finally call the doctor, they should give you a number to call 24/7 for questions. I know the last time as a FTM I was hesitant to call them after hours, but they don't mind. i am sure they have been called for many very random things before.
