I have a new one too. The kids are getting power wheels! They are so expensive that I wasn't sure we could do it. There's some irritation involved because I told MIL about it and that I wanted it to be a Santa gift. I asked if they were interested in chipping in. She went and got the big one for Em and a knock off small one for Nicky. From them. So I'm super excited because they will get them but disappointed that Santa isn't bringing them (our big presents were always from Santa when I was a kid). It's dumb, so I'll get over it. Especially once we see the kids zooming around!
So I read somewhere that parents should consider when buying Santa gifts, it said something about kids telling each other what they got from Santa and the kids who didn't get big expensive things would wonder why Santa brought them less. So parents should give their kids the big gifts from them and keep the Santa gifts smaller, Or something like that! I thought it made sense!
This is what we are doing as well. The reasoning makes a lot of sense to me. I never really thought about it until I read this as well.

I get that. It makes sense too. For us growing up, the presents we could never in a million years expect our parents to be able to get for us (too expensive, too hard to find, etc) were from Santa. But then, we were a super low income family so even our "big" presents weren't that big. I think the biggest Santa gift we ever got was a bike. DH and I do better than my parents did financially so I suppose the comparison thing comes more into play now. I don't know...as a kid I guess I always assumed the other kids just asked for what they got that was more expensive, whereas I tended to ask for different stuff because I was/am a weirdo. And we never got many presents but again I never really thought anything of it when talking to my friends. Anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about the big presents coming from us but it does make sense and makes me feel a little better about this year, so thanks!

I got my H all weather floor mats for his new car. They even have his favorite foot team logo on them. i think he will really like them. I go E a little projector you can draw on and it shines the image on the wall. I think she will love it and it will be fun to see her drawings.

Oh I and I totally just got her a light brite. Because I wanted to play with it,
I'm not sure how I feel about the whole Santa big gift parent thing. Sometimes I think we (as in today's parents in general, not you anyone in particular here) are trying so hard to protect our kids that sometimes it backfires. And somehow we've ended up with a pile of entitled kids that just don't get it. I never wondered about it as a kid, but our parents always kinda kept it in check and didn't spend a bajillion on us. We aren't really in a position to either and probably never will be.
And also j12 band, all the way. Cosette's already talking piercings and face tattoos so she'll have great stage presence right?
D would make a good front man of a j12 band. We have a video of him singing Do You Know the Muffin Man (a la Adam Levine doing an Eddie Vedder impression) while standing on a speaker. He is belting it out into a Playstation microphone and them falls off the speaker. There are tears. It seems like it could be an America's Funniest Videos submission.
Ahh Lite Brite! I saw one at BBB the other day and told H that when E is older and we don't have to worry as much about tiny parts being swallowed, we're totally getting the girls a lite brite. I loved ours when I was a kid!
I think I'm most excited to see J open a doll accessory set (similar to this) that we (Santa) got her to match her stroller from Santa last year. It's not something she asked for, but we got it since she loves straping her dolls into E's car seat, and using the pack and play.
She's also getting an alarm clock and a Barbie with a few clothes. She asked for these things, yes she seriously asked for an alarm clock for Christmas! Along with a "Minnie Bike" which we didn't get. We decided to wait for her birthday for the bike.

trixi282, Yeah I don't know that I'd get a bike in December in MN. I worry about the small parts too but I swear it said 4 years old on it. And well, they are practically 4. I like that doll set. I wish I waited until now to get her a better quality on than the one I got her a while back. Ours is pretty beat up.

I finally figured Aubrey out today. It was hard evening out the kids because Aubrey was asking for smaller items and shane was thinking really big lol. For Aubrey we have the Barbie Camper. She had talked about it a few weeks ago and I didn't realize it was a real thing until it was unavailable. I thought she had watched a youtube video with a barbie camper in it. Well I found it today at TRU and I don't think she's expecting it at all.
For Shane I'm most excited for him to see his $10 microscope and science kit he's been asking for Santa to bring. Even after all the drama with his TMNT I think he'll love the science kit.

Oh if I didn't have a baby on the verge of sitting unassisted, and likely mobile in the next few months it would be different. I am certain I could trust Joey with it now... I just can't trust her to keep it away from Emme... and keep it cleaned up after each use!
I don't remember if I already posted, but we got coop the Hess truck and I think he's going to loose his mind! My dad sent him a rc crane...that's going to be a huge hit!
