I need a little help breaking up with my hairstylist.
Background: I've been going to the same salon for about 4.5 years now, and was happy there until about a year ago when my regular stylist moved away. The salon set me up with another stylist, who I've just never really connected with. I have really thick hair (every stylist comments it is the thickest they have ever seen) so I know it's not easy to work with and each appointment is usually around 3 hours. I tip really well because of this.
I'm starting to get more greys along my part, so now I'm going like every 5-6 weeks to get my roots done. This is $65 plus now she's charging $33 to blow dry my hair after a color (no charge for blow dry if I get a cut, too). The thing is, she does a horrible job with the blow dry. My hair needs to be flat ironed afterwards, otherwise it is HUGE, and she doesn't do this. I end up putting my hair in a ponytail until I can get home and flatiron it myself.
I went last Saturday, and $130 later I came home with roots that are way too light (she must have used the wrong color), bangs that were way too long even after she "trimmed" them (I ended up cutting them myself the next day), and huge puffy hair that had to be put in a ponytail.
She never asks if I'm happy with my hair, it's like she's done, not get out of her chair and pay for the services. I already have my next few appointments lined up, but I want to cancel them and find a new place. I hate confrontation, and honestly think she wouldn't care if I went elsewhere anyway. So, can I just stop going to her?
Thanks for any advice, and sorry this is so long.
