i just picked T up from daycare and they said she has had such a bad diaper rash that it started bleeding!! She was fine this morning. Any advice on what to put on it if it's still bleeding when we get home?
I'd probably wash it with water and pat it or air dry. Then if it's actually cuts or sores maybe polysporin? Then some butt paste - we use IHLE'S butt paste. Or also something for cracked skin could help- udder cream works wonders or keihl's cream for cracked skin.
If you can get some diaper free time before bed that might help too.
I always swear by using coconut oil. I usually put coconut oil and then something thicker on top, I use penaten. Then I'd also do some diaper free time.
Well, I have some of the A&D that babycaps recommended before. Now that we are done with our RX cream for yeast rash I told daycare to try the A&D today. But I swear, when she woke up around 1am this morning, I went to change her diaper and she saw the box of wipes and frowned and cringed. Poor baby girl knows what they are and is hurting so bad she was already crying before I started changing her.
Stop using the wipes. Just rinse her off at the sink and use a soft rag to pat her dry (or let her air dey). I agree with lots of diaper free time. As much as possible. Also, I know that udder cream works really well too. It is super super thick and will create a great barrier. Once the cracks heal I would use something with zinc. The only thing that works for E is balmex. She wil clear up super fast when I use it on her. Butt paste doesn't work for her and neither does Desitin. I hope it heals soon. Poor baby girl!
@whitezin12, in addition to the A&D w/ Dimethicone I told you about before, stop using the wipes for now. Rinse her with luke warm water, let her air dry as much as possible. You can fan or blow to help speed things along if you are at a time of day in which diaper free time isn't possible. Apply the A&D w/ Dimethicone, Desitin Extra strength and then a thick layer of Aquaphor (in that order). With the next diaper change, DO NOT wipe everything off. EVEN IF there is poop on the cream. Just dap it clean with a wet paper towel and get as much of the poop off as possible and then re-lather. It's totally counter-intuitive to leave some residual poop on the layer of cream, but it's MUCH better than trying to wipe it off. It's really really important for the skin to have LOTS of uninterrupted time to heal. Note: As skin starts to heal it will still be red bc the new layer of skin cells is fragile and highly pigmented. The pigment gives it the red color and it doesn't mean it's all irritation but it can easily slough off if it's wiped!
I'll stop with the wipes. But for the record, I wasn't actually wiping her, I was just dabbing. I know that wiping is a no no in this situation. But I will start with warm water instead.
Thank ya'll so much. I can't imagine if everyone left TB and I didn't have ya'll to go to for help.

Seriously. I don't know how to be a mom without y'all lol

For yeast, I've had success adding a few drops of tea tree oil (smells like antiseptic!) to a peri bottle (filled with plain water) and using that to rinse every diaper change when the rash appears. I'd be cautious using it around broken skin, but it seems to really help clear things up quicker.
Well, the pedi we had to see today gave us a RX cream. No yeast anymore, but bad enough rash that he gave us some samples to start with.
Reason for the pedi visit, she was coughing and sneezing so bad last night, couldn't breathe because of the snot in her nose, and woke up with one eye sealed shut with crust. Pedi said no pink eye, but use the rx butt cream, start her nebs again, continue with Zyrtec and gave us some eye drops in case her eyes continue with the build up and the white starts to turn pink. He said its bacteria in there at that point. My poor sweet girl, she can't catch a break! She's still happy as ever though, such a trooper!!

We always seem to have lo's with rashes at the same time newmomma8. I have nothing to contribute - just hugs. Let me know how the rx cream goes.
T's rash this time was really bad & not yeasty. Giving up wipes wasn't too much of an option when traveling so I just added a bunch of water to them so they were really wet for easy dabbing. His rashes are always caused by antibiotics. Annoying.
Our LO's do seem to always be on the same schedule with issues lately. The butt cream is actually helping a lot. It's Mr. Smith's or Dr. Smith's, I think.

I think we're on the home stretch with ours, so hopefully no antibiotics in our future & his little tush can get a break.
Speaking of the same schedule...how is sleep in your house? LO is extra cranky & clingy now since sick + vaca = scream when mom leaves the room. So exhausting....
bennieangel Well, since she started getting a cold this past weekend, she's can't breathe good at night and has been peeing through her diaper EVERY night (except last night). So sleep is almost non existent for me, she rolls, flips, flops and kicks me all night.
I'm giving her zyrtec, breathing treatments, and butt cream right now, so hopefully she'll start feeling better soon, but her right eye is still so dang red. The doctor gave us eye drops in case it develops into pink eye. I guess he's thinking it will from the symptoms she had when we went in Monday. But I'm holding out in hopes that it will start getting better soon. Good news was the dr said no ear infections this time. Thank gosh, every antibiotic she gets gives her thrush.

newmomma8 - ugh. I'm so sorry! I Hope that she gets through all of this ASAP and you've got a healthy baby for a long while before she gets sick again! Seriously, it's so frustrating when it's one sick after another.
Tyler's was better...and now it's so much worse. babycaps what do you think of triple paste? He has little sores on his butt & it looks like one of them was bleeding we used the blue a&d and then when it was looking better switched back to aquafor & now it's awful again. I don't know of it's yeast so if I should he putting lotramin on too?
Tried to reply yesterday, anyway. She's so much better. A couple days of the Dr Smiths or Mr Smiths, it worked wonders. I haven't used a cream on her in at least two days and she's still clear as can be! Thanks for asking!!!
So idk if this is weird but we've never had diaper rash.
That's amazing. We've had a few but always clear up quickly with CriticAid Clear Paste. Also helps that they are almost always really good at daycare about putting aquiphor on his butt for every diaper change.

We have done aquaphor at every change since birth. If her butthole is even a little red I do Desitin.
When she was little we used cloths to wipe. Introduced wipes at 5 months. I dab.

SO update on our worst ever rash....the Triple Paste mixed with some Lotramin seems to be helping A LOT. Bought a second triple paste to send to daycare (that stuff is stupid expensive).
