Hi all, I just found this preemie group!! I was a March 15 mom and delivered my baby, Luke, on December 23. He was 29 weeks and 2 pounds 4.5 ounces. Fast forward 5.5 weeks, he is still in the NICU and up to 4 pounds 6.2 ounces! We just recently had a small setback (desat/brady that resulted in him needing oxygen and being sent to a higher risk room for closer monitoring) but other than that he has been cruising along just getting bigger and stronger. We started breast and bottle feeding and he is doing fantastic. He gets pretty tuckered out though from just guzzling it down so fast. We are probably looking at close to a month still in the NICU, his due date was March 9 and we've been told that's a good estimate. I'm looking forward to hearing other's stories and advice. This has been a hard, stressful, and emotional roller coaster ride, as I'm sure it is for everyone here, so hopefully this group can help.
paradebegone - yes, I had severe preeclampsia, it came on pretty fast. I was in the hospital for six days prior to delivery trying to hold it off for as long as possible.
meladorie - Yes! I've been following your story as well. Sounds like your little guy is doing pretty well! Hopefully we both get to bring our little guys home soon!
Welcome! My boys are also 27 weekers. E came home 2 weeks before their due date and L came home 4 days before their due date. I was told by our NICU doctor that they try and get babies home as close to their due dates as possible as LNG as there are no major issues.
I hope your LO continues to thrive and will be able to go home with you soon.
