I haven't done an update in awhile, and although there's not a lot going on, the little bits are worth sharing!
Things have thankfully slowed down a bit, and that's okay with me! E is doing really well and although we missed 2 sessions of OT in December (1 OT was sick, 1 H slept late) she's still making slow progress. She's mouthing toys all the time, and if she doesn't have a toy, she mouths/sucks on her hands or just "phantom" sucks on her tongue. On occasion she has started to suck her thumb, and with a few of her new Christmas presents ("Santa" win!) she has sucked on her pacifier 2 or 3 times now, which is HUGE! She loves to chew on it, but sucking on it is a big development for her!
(*Santa brought her a lovey from Carters that had arms and one has a loop for a pacifier. Now she can hold it easier and doesn't drop it, so she can get it to her mouth easier! We do have a wubanub, but she doesn't seem to like that type of pacifier anymore... well she doesn't seem to like any, but even less-so that one.)
Anyway... aside from that, we've started to offer "tastes" of water, formula, and even a few purees now. She will suck on a little "oral care sponge" lollipop soaked in water. Put formula and she's like "ummm, what is this?", put puree and she looks at you like "WTF is this stuff on my lolli?!"
Off topic again... so overall she's doing pretty well with her oral development, still slow, but any progress is good progress in my mind. She's slightly behind in other gross motor skills, like rolling and sitting unassisted (7mo 1wk old), but we're working on it. She still hates tummy time 75% of the time, and the few times she has rolled over she was like the nope octopus "Nope. Nope, nope nope!"
That got longer than expected, oops!
TLDR: Emme's making some slow progress with her oral aversion and although not eating anything by mouth, she's starting to take "tastes". She's a little behind on Gross Motor skills, but we'll continue working on those too.
Also, I posted in Chat Stew that I talked to EI this morning and she automatically qualifies for services, so we have her assessment on Monday and she will get some type of services from there too!
