Kid watches "The Hobbit" with his family and goes to school and fantasizes he has the "one ring", saying if he put his ring on his friend's head, he would disappear. School interprets this as a "threat" and suspends him for the third time this year.
The other 2 times were for calling another student "black" (no elaboration given) and for bringing "The Big Book of Knowledge" to school to show his teacher the section about the solar system. The book has a cartoon picture of a pregnant woman, so he was suspended.
I mean, I suppose if the kid being "threatened" wa freaked out, told him to stop, ran away, etc, and the suspended boy kept tormenting him then maybe it was a "threat" but it honestly sounds like the teacher has it in for this kid.
“I assure you my son lacks the magical powers necessary to threaten his friend’s existence,” the boy's father later wrote in an email. "If he did, I'm sure he'd bring him right back."
That's hilarious. Lots of Texas schools in the news lately.
Crazy, but it happens. When I was in elementary school I was forced to go to weekly counseling because I wanted to "play witches" after watching Practical Magic with my cousins.

There must be more to the story.... Because that's insane. He's just a little boy!
I hate reading about unfair (and often unlawful) suspensions. Kids have rights. If I were his parent I'd be demanding an explanation, investigation, and reversal. Suspensions can really jam up your record and reputation.
I wrapped up an education law class recently and one big idea was how "zero tolerance" is becoming a thing of the past because all situations should be treated uniquely and should all be investigated thoroughly.

I agree that I would want them reversed on his record, but I'd be pulling him out regardless. That school sounds insane.

ZOMG, not the Big Book of Knowledge!
I really want to believe there's more to this, especially since so many schools start talking about reproduction in health classes around 4th grade. And the kids are 9, I'm sure they're more aware of pregnancy. At the same time, I don't feel overly confident that there is more to the story because of the bullshit Texas constantly pulls.
