Not wanting to continue to buy bigger clothes ...
Serisouly though I just joined taekwondo because I needed a class to keep me motivated and on track. I did martial arts for years as a kid so it's a new style and I'm excited to learn it. Find something that is interesting to you and have some people to keep you accountable.
Ladies that work out, what's your motivation? What inspires you to suck it up and sweat it out. The lazy keeps winning over here.
I must need some magic juice.
Word. I am right there with you justbeth. I need to find the time AND the motivation. I'm not really gaining any weight but I'm so out of shape and I don't like how I look in a swimsuit either. And besides, the couch, my DVR and some wine totally beats out working out 99.9% of the time.
I have to have accountability. So being part of a group and checking in with others helps a lot. I'll admit I'm more often not doing it, but it does help to have someone there to encourage and motivate me in those groups. I'm currently in a 21 day fix challenge group.
Also, swimsuit weather. Which I'll have to wear one in less than a month, eeeekkkk

Honestly aim too tired now but pre Freya my motivation was 1) I hate dieting so I need to work out to continue to drink wine, eat dairy & enjoy dessert & 2) it was an hour of alone time where I could enjoy a movie or TV show without being bothered by my kid.
I like to run, but sometimes I do feel like slacking or skipping a day. That's why I signed up for the half marathon in October and the full in March. Between the race fee that I already spent and a completing a marathon being on my bucket list, I feel like I better get my miles in. That said, I do allow myself to have easy days if I need them physically or mentally and that helps (i.e. I ran 4.5 instead of 8 miles the other day since I was just tired).
Also it's really nice to get to watch Netflix shows when I'm on the treadmill or have some alone time if I run outside on the weekends.

Find something you love. It was running for me, for more than ten years but I couldn't get back into it after Liam, I kept giving up. I tried a new yoga studio and loved it, and look forward to going. Try different things, you might surprise yourself ( yoga, running, swimming, zumba, kickboxing, karate, pilates, dancing, etc)
mrsdonati I guess my FC is that I'm not worried about how I look naked! Probably my problem.
heatherbee Word on the bigger clothes. Already been there. Took it a step farther and consigned my skinny clothes. I need To find something interesting...
So glad I'm not alone summergirl1211 and tribute17! That sofa can be convincing. Maybe we need to start our own group.
Swimsuit weather, ick. I think if I could use it as alone time I would be more motivated. I don't have that though. I work out (or should be) during nap time when there are a bazillion other things that need to be done and another million things I'd rather be doing!
babywinks I can't believe you only ran 4.5 miles one day. Slacker. ?
I really need to find what I love. I just don't think it's going to be exercise...
Accountability! A coworker is getting healthy with me and my mom is as well, so I have work and home covered. I get total judgy eyes from either one if I think about straying and it's also nice to plan healthy meals and snacks together.
I joined the dietbet from parenting so I also have moolah as a motivator this month I also got a new fancy Fitbit for Christmas and I felt like it would be wasteful not to really go for it and get my steps. So apparently wasting money is a factor to me haha.
Also since I'll probably be dating sometime in the near future. Like there is no way I would let anyone see my body in the state it's in. These last couple weeks the thought of dating a hot fireman has really helped. Heh heh. But I'm not kidding. I really want to date a hot fireman.
Lol jfresh, if I had the potential to date a hot fireman it might up my game too!
I also really want a Fitbit but DH insists we don't have the money to waste. I feel like if I had one I would at least try to get my steps. I also want to track my sleep and see how much or little im actually sleeping.

I have a Fitbit. I remove it before bed. There's no way I want to know how little sleep I'm actually getting. I think it would just justify me crawling under a rock and sleeping till spring.
For me, the motivation is its me time. I get to go to the gym by myself or run by myself. I just get to turn on my music and lose myself for a little bit. Plus, it really makes me feel better mentally afterward.

It is really depressing. It's one thing to know that you were awake at 4 am throwing Cheerios at your kid and changing their pee covered sheets but actually SEEING that you got five hours and however many minutes of awake/restless periods. Yeah. Not pretty.

For me it is eating. I love food and desserts in particular. My metabolism sucjs so i have to work out to eat my cake and drink my wine. Plus i like the alone time. I enjoy spin classes so I can kind of zone outwhile I work out.

This is exactly me. I never want to go back to how I was feeling mentally before I started working out. I also get to have me time, which was severely lacking before I joined the gym. DS loves the playcare that they have at my gym and I get to work out. My friends are also members of the gym and we work out together a few times a week. Our kids all get to play together in the player while we get to talk about whatever. It is a win win. This month we started a competition to see who can lose the largest percent of body weight. Our husbands are doing it too so there is accountability at home as well. There are three ways you can be the winner. There will be a winner for the individual that loses the most, the couple that loses the most, and the sex that loses the most. The women better win the battle of the sexes because our nights out so far have been the gym while the men's night out has been to the bar.
In summary, my motivation is mental health, me time, and competing with people.
The gym has always been my stress release. Long before husband and kids. As a matter of fact, I haven't worked out regularly since getting married and especially after kids. Being in school, working full time and being a mom made me not want to lose that hour to hour and a half of family time. I told DH the other day though that during all we have going on right now, I would love to be able to go to a spin class. Obviously that is not appropriate 5 days post csection. Lol But my DH promised me that he is going to make sure I get my "me time" back. Yes, I have gotten very fluffy and haven't lost even the weight from my J12er..but my main thing is that I want that stress release. It helps me refocus and be productive. You do have to find something you like. I love spin class to really burn calories and then pilates (mat and on the reformer) for muscle building and stretching.
