littlelevonloohoo-poor little guy. Teething is so rough on them. I have that Giraffe too, it seemed like such a strange toy at first but my DD seems to really like it:-) Good luck with your LO!

jmebormann I know! That silly simple giraffe is so loved by the little ones! My mother in law actually brought his from France. They live 30 minutes from Vulli where they are made! L loves the thing so much we bought 2 while we were in France at Christmas. They are only 9€ compared to nearly $30 here!

Teething sucks!! The only time it seems to bother M is at night so ibuprofen/acetaminophen is what helps us.
In other news, I finally requested my TB account be deleted. I had initially planned to keep my account so I could help ppoint people in the right direction, but after seeing the way Admin are continuing to treat and respond to posts, I just can't.
ladytiffany24 that really stinks. Remind me again of how long you have been in cincy? When I first moved up here it was like whoa too. And now that all of the friends I made in grad school have moved away it's like whoa again. I hope that something opens up for you soon! It's hard missing fam/friends and not being happy with work.
LO got her first set of immunizations on Friday. The aftermath was intense. She never, never screams cries for more than a couple of minutes when she is hungry or tired. She screamed her head off for 45 minutes until the Tylenol set in. Luckily I wasn't home but I guess this is what had DH in a tizzy on Friday. Next time I will remember the Tylenol before the apt!
Tell me more about the Tylenol... LO goes next week.

I forgot I had an AW tonight.
H was really wanting comfort food so I made some chili mac. I gave M a little to try, he hates pasta and cheese with a passion so I didn't expect him to eat much/any of it. Shows what I know, this kid was double fisting handfuls of pasta shells slathered in cheese and Gold Star chili. He even finished a second helping!!

My DD also needed Tylenol after her first appt for her shots. Just keep on hand and watch for signs of fussiness and fever.

Yummy I've never had the chili mac but it sounds like you've got a gold star fan.

mominthemaking14 I have always heard that you should administer Tylenol BEFORE the shots. Of course I forgot this little tid-bit and waited until the pain set in. The only issue with administering before is the dosage is age and weight dependent, e.g. the doc had to tell us specifically how much to give her (it wasn't on the package). I guess if you have a way to weigh her accurately you can call and ask about the dose beforehand, or maybe just ask the nurse early in the appointment. At the very least you can have the Tylenol with you and give it after the shots... If you go the route of dosing her before the pain sets in you could possibly run the risk of giving her the meds without her needing them. Maybe she would have not needed it in the end? Personally I wouldn't mind giving it just as a precautionary measure, but some moms are different. The last really good thing we did was have DH hold her during the shots and I got the boob ready. I made sure we could stay in the room a bit and nursed her right after the shots to sooth her. It worked well and knocked her right out.
I do too. To clarify, there was something they started getting at those older apts that causes stiff muscles in the leg and a fever. So we never pre medicated and he never acted fussy or had a fever until the 6 month one. But I would not be afraid to pre- med with Tylenol because it's a pretty safe drug
I have read things recently that say you should not give Tylenol before shots. That it can reduce the effectiveness of a vaccine. I won't pretend to know all the details, but it's been talked about a lot in another group I'm in. I'm sure it can't be that bad, because people have been doing it for years, and vaccines seem to be working. So it's probably no big deal, but maybe ask your doctor about it?

I heard the same thing. I don't think there have been extensive studies. I wait until after just in case. For immediate relief to get his mind off what just happened, I'll usually feed him or give him his pacifier and lovey.

Our pedi told us this first time DS got shots. Easy to say, but at 3am when DS was on fire with a fever he got the Tylenol. I held out as long as I could, but it just got to the point of not being worth it.

I also give Tylenol or Motrin after the shot if LO is fussy, in pain, or has a fever.
I just don't do it before the shot in anticipation.

Yeah, I think giving Tylenol afterward is fine. Our pedi said to give him some if he was more fussy than normal even without a fever. Everything I've read against Tylenol was only about giving it before shots.
