Today was my third time ever being in one. I took a look around and noticed three kinds of parenting.
1) The, my kid is here and the teen at the rope will make sure my kid can't escape or be abducted, so I'm just going to sit here and not pay attention at all. --this of course is the parent of the 7ish year old who ran up on me and stuck his hand in my token cup trying to steal my kid's fun. "But I need them to win tickets!!!" Yeah, you and everyone else here kid. That's how this place works. You can't just steal them, bro!
2) The, let's go play games and the parent actually lets the kid play, without care for how many tickets they win.
And
3) The, let's go play, but why don't you just watch me win all the tickets, parent.
It appeared that all three kids had fun at some point. 1) the whole time doing whatever they want--well except when I shut that kid down. 2) playing the games, but being upset they didn't win a bigger prize 3) being upset they couldn't play but liking their prize options.
Add for the record I side eye those in group one, get the intention in group three (but isn't it a place where a kid can be a kid, not a spectator?) and l try to stay in group 2. My kid was pretty excited about his little plastic spider.
