I just have to say, swaddle sleep sacks are the best and I wish we'd started using them sooner! We were using receiving blankets but they were getting too small and never really held anyway. Then one day last week I had the brilliant idea of not swaddling at all. After 5 terrible nights I went out and bought the Halo swaddle sleep sacks and my babies have never slept so well! Down to sleep without much fuss around 7 pm and STTN until 3 or 4 am! F just got up from a 3 hour nap and C is still asleep! If you have a poor sleeper, you have to try these.
Now, in a month or two I'll be asking how to get rid of the swaddle! But until then I'll be enjoying my sleep.
Because my LO sleeps in his mamaroo a lot, I take those swaddles, fold them in half, and secure his arms so I can buckle him in still. He looks like he is in a straight jacket, but they are so awesome.
DD hates her arms swaddled or covered!! I tried sleep sacks and I had one grouchy little girl! But I'm happy you found something that works!! Enjoy that sleep
LO went through a week hating the swaddle. She didn't like her arms down. I gave in and didn't swaddle her. Then tried a week later (after neither of us sleeping well) and she sttn I haven't looked back! Halo sleep sacks are the bessssssssst

Try again if you can! Another trick I have used is to put Holly in the sleep sacks with her arms free and rock her to sleep. Then lie her down and THEN swaddle her arms in. She usually sleeps through it and doesn't fight it. If she does wake up, I still swaddle the arms, but then I will pick her back up and she usually falls right back to sleep.
I love them, too! DD doesn't even fight them and never gets an arm out. She loves them. Used them for about 4 months with DS. I don't remember how we weaned him but we just knew it was time.
I second waiting til your baby is asleep before swaddling their arms if they resist. I had the same problem with LO and after a couple weeks of only swaddling below her armpits, I realized that if she was asleep (or even sleepy) she didn't mind and did actually sleep better.

I use woombies and I feel the same way. Does my baby hate having her arms down? Yes!! She entered the world with her hands in her face. But she sleeps.
My girls both loved to be swaddled. This guy *hates* it. He wants his arms up and I better not tuck his blanket too tightly around him (he sleeps in the RnP). :-P
I like the A&A blankets for swaddling because they are large enough, stretchy and breathable.

Hmmm... maybe I need to look into the Halo ones. I have a couple swaddleme's but they can be a pain.
We just gave up and ordered a second halo swaddle. We have some regular sleep sacks. The swaddle one we have is a small and seems so much smaller than our size small non swaddle halo sacks. Guess we will find out if that's by design or the one swaddle sack we have was mislabeled.
We have some other random brand sleep and swaddle sacks, but we much prefer the halo ones and don't use the rest.
I haven't fully swaddled since birth. My LO hated his arms in so I swaddled with one of the halo swaddle blankets from the chest down with arms out. When he outgrow that I just moved to regular sleep sacks and he sleeps great in them.

I think that's by design. My LO grew out of his small one quite quickly
We started out swaddling and LO loved it but one day it was like a switch was flipped and he hated it. He likes the sleep sacks but I may try the swaddle again every few days to see if he'll tolerate it because he wakes himself up kicking, flailing etc in the sack now.

I see that the HALO sleep sack is made out of fleece. How do you dress LOs under it and how cold do you keep the room to make sure they don't overheat?

Our house is 19 celcius overnight and they wear a footed sleeper, which is often fleece as well. I've wondered if this is too warm but they don't seem too warm when I change them in the night.
So I was one of the "LO hates swaddling" because he does. But last night, he was up FOR-EV-ER and was clearly tired. Nothing was working. So I lied him down and swaddled his sleepy butt and BAM he passed out for like 4 hours. It was magical. We use A&A

If we are swaddling his arms in, we only dress him in a short sleeved onesie (finally a use for those!)
Not swaddling his arms, either a long sleeved onesie or shirt. We still will dress him in those long sleeve side snap mitten cuff shirts for sleep.

They have ones that are just cotton too. I put a long sleeve onesie on LO underneath that. After her 2/3am feeding I leave her arms free and I don't want them to get cold.

If she is getting her arms swaddled too I just do a short sleeved onesie. If her arms are out I do a long sleeved onesie. Room is comfortable but not too warm. I always check her nose and hands to see if she is getting too cold. And if she gets too warm I unzip her feet pocket to allow airflow down there. I put her in a sleeper all swaddled once and after an hour of sleep she woke up with a red face and sweating! Poor thing was way too overheated. If I want to keep her in a sleeper we use an A&A swaddle since they are thinner.

They also have a couple of muslin ones, which I like better than the cotton or fleece. They feel just like the Aden swaddle blankets. BBB had them for $10 cheaper than everywhere else last week.
I use the a&a blankets to swaddle. I do have a halo swaddle, but it always seems to ride up to his mouth which makes me nervous. He has been fighting the swaddle lately, but sleeps like crap without it. I just ordered a zippedee zip. Hopefully that will be a good compromise for us!

I put LO in a onesie with light pajama on top. Then the sleep sack. I figure the sleep sack is the equivalent of a blanket and I use a big comforter over my pajamas and am fine. We keep the room cool. About 67 degrees
I just got back from my 2 month appointment and was told no more swaddling bc of the roll over risk.
Ugh! Have you looked into zippedee zips? I ordered one last week because they've been selling out so fast, but I hadn't intended to use it for a bit. LO will be 8 weeks Saturday, so I guess I'll be using it sooner than planned. We have the pedi next week, so I'll have to ask.
