I'm 26w2d and starting to feel sluggish and big- and it's scary to think I have 14ish weeks to go and I'm not getting any smaller I need to make a more conscious effort to improve my eating habits because the extra weight I'm gaining is not going to help me. And I do work out (Zumba 2xs a week) but I'm adding a shorter cardio workout to my "off" days because I feel better when I do some sort of exercise. Any tips/tricks on better eating are much appreciated...

29+3 and also big and tired. My question is: Does the third trimester really suck as much as it seems like it will? Between the heartburn, reduced mobility, the difficulty sleeping, and the lack of energy, I'm worried this could be a really long 10.5 weeks!! Does anyone have tips on managing it?

I'm not going to lie third tri has its good days and bad days. I have days where it's not so bad and then days where it takes everything just to do simple tasks. I have learned the key(for me anyways) is to not push it too far. Things will get done even if it takes a little bit longer :-)

I'm 38 weeks today. I feel like third trimester is hard because your body is tired, your mind is shot, and all of the worry about actually giving birth is approaching really fast. I have unbelievable swelling despite halving my salt intake, so I am walking around terrified of developing eclampsia and seizing and dying in front of my 2 year old. Non-pregnant me wouldn't think like that, but everything seems so, so serious when I am this pregnant. Honestly, though, I forgot that I felt like this with my son, so there's that.

ProfessorChaos 3rd tri is definitely hard. I remember very clearly from my past pregnancies that it is a challenging time- physically and mentally. My only tip I guess is keeping your eye on the prize- knowing that the discomfort and acid reflux and sluggishness will all be worth it. It doesn't make it suck any less and if you're anything like me, you'll cry alot in the last few weeks and just want to be done being pregnant. And then you'll hold that baby... ok I'll stop getting sappy. You get the idea
PS Random- your due date is my wedding anniversary and DS1's birthday.
I will be 22 weeks tomorrow and the acid reflux is starting to kick in. Baby is starting to kick harder. I'm looking forward to my DH being able I feel him
mpiemont I try to pack my pantry and fridge with healthy options so I have no other choice. I know if I have cookies in the house, I will eat them all. Preplanning my meals for the week helps me stay on track. I did order some Girl Scout cookies and it will take everything I have not to eat them all in a day or two.
ProfessorChaos the 3rd tri has been the toughest for me. I'm 36 weeks and it's a combination of extreme anxiety/fear around labor & delivery and lack of sleeping. I feel like I'm just getting so big that it's hard to do much of anything and as pp mentioned it's becoming more and more difficult to complete simple tasks. That being said I'm so unbelievably excited to meet her little face and am seriously looking forward to the next adventure!
Edit since I tagged the wrong person & then spelled it wrong!

jap618 - Wow, that's a great deal! We paid about $20 per hour of our birthing class ($150 for 4 2-hour sessions) and it didn't include the 1:1 attention!!
mpiemont - 4/17 is the birthday of both my BIL (DH's sister's DH) and my SIL (my brother's wife, who is not my favorite human). Really hoping this baby comes on a different day! I also second what mrskblack11 said--keep healthy food around and easily accessible, and don't even buy the junk. I'm so much less likely to cook these days, so it helps to make a big batch of something good (lentils, spinach, and rice stew last night) that I can eat for a while. Figure out what your go-to healthy snacks are (string cheese, Greek yogurt, nuts, etc) and have them handy at all times.

jap618, that is a great alternative to the hospital class. I'm glad you found it.
As for me, 29 weeks and 3 days and this third tri thing is definitely not as fun. Suddenly I'm uncomfortably full so easily. I have been making a conscious effort to eat smaller meals and make sure I eat a few hours before trying to lay down. That's helping, as is eating very plain foods. Much less heartburn! Trying to keep up my motivation to work out but it's hard because I get BH when I work out. I just need to go easier on myself and be satisfied with 30 minute workouts instead of the longer workouts I usually do.
Hugs to all. We can do this! It's physically hard, but emotionally easier than the sadness and grief and frustration of the years of trying to get to this point.

mpiemont I always try to keep my fridge and cabinets stocked with healthy choices. If I don't have junk food in the house I won't crave it. I guess it the out of sight out of mind mentality. mrskblack11 I really enjoyed watching my DHs face the first time he felt LO kick. I'm a giant sap though and it just made me fall in love with him all over again to watch his reaction.
Being 33+3 I am finding it more and more difficult to do everyday things but I just have to remind myself that this is do able. And like I said previously I have to constantly remind myself not to push myself too far. What i cannot deal with though is this sharp shooting pain I got in my left hip sleeping last night. Like you know that burning sensation you get in your stomach when you have a bad stomach ache? That's what my hip felt like all night. I though I had maybe dislocated it in my sleep but that's not the case.
ProfessorChaos 3rd tri isn't so bad for me. I mean there are lots of aches and pains, it's hard to find a comfortable sleeping position, and you just feel so big but I get to feel LO move around a lot more so it helps to calm PGAL brain.
I'm 36w+2 now and I had my first weekly check up yesterday. NOTHING is happening with my cervix.... still tight and closed. I'm pretty bummed and afraid that nothing is going to happen before I hit 41w+1 and we'll have to induce me.

ProfessorChaos The 3rd tri hasn't been too terrible for me. It kind of comes and goes. I have days that I feel like I still have a good amount of energy and days that I just don't want to get off the couch...but can't get comfortable on the couch...
racegurl87 Sorry about the lack of cervix activity. FX you'll have some progress next week!
As for me, 36w3d and had my weekly check-up today. My doctor confirmed that LO is head down, so yay! I'm 1 cm and 0% effaced, which I know doesn't mean a whole lot but it was exciting that it is at least starting to open.

3rd tri is kicking my butt so far. I'm 29w today, always tired and can't sleep. I had been working out at the gym until about Thanksgiving, then got a cold and never went back because motivation is nil. with the GD diagnosis, my doctor is really urging me to get back to some kind of exercise, but the gym just is too much. I'm trying an at-home prenatal workout DVD, and it's good but even still I have to seriously talk myself into it each time. It does help my blood sugar #s though, so maybe that'll get me going. The heartburn was ramping up, but my OB gave me ranitidine (generic zantac?) and it's working wonders. Now if only I could find a way to get comfortable and get some sleep!
I noticed in my OB's after-visit summary at 28w that from 32-34w he wants me in 2x/week for NSTs (not sure why just 32-34 and not beyond that), and a growth scan sometime after 32w. I won't see him again until halfway through 32w so won't have those scheduled until we're right on top of when I'm supposed to do them. What exactly do NSTs involve? Is the growth scan any different from a normal u/s?
Only thing I know is that my SIL was getting NSTs around 36w because she was noticing less movement, and at about 37w she went straight from one of the NST appointments in for C-section, so I'm paranoid that could happen and telling MH that we need our hospital bags packed before we start those just in case. I'm sure I'm overreacting, but I tend to look for any excuse to overprepare way too far ahead of time.

Hey y'all. 31 weeks 2 days here. Honestly i feel amazing after passing that damn kidney stone. It was really dragging me down. My only big issues right now is that i am always tired and out of breath. I know i should exercise but just walking down the stairs has me huffing and puffing. Or standing for longer than 5 minutes. I got all worried about not feeling peep move much yesterday but waited till midnight (that's when peep gets active) and got 10 movements in 2 minutes... So that was a relief. And peeps moving right now. Must have been a lazy day yesterday. I have our third (of 4) birth class on thursday. So far i have learned a few things like labor positions, got a tour of the hospital, and am seriously freaked out... This week she said we would talk more about epidurals and non-natural remedies and so maybe i will feel better after that? I'm sorry but after passing 19 kidney stones I am all about this epidural...

That doesn't sound all that bad at all And I've always got a book I can bring to occupy myself during that time!

I read somewhere one that if your not hungry enough to eat an apple, you don't really need a snack. I have tons of fruit at my house and in my lunch box so that I can reach for fruit instead of high calorie snacks when I am craving food (which is pretty much all the time now). As an added bonus, the daily apples I've been eating have helped with constipation.

Yes, it is difficult, but it helps a lot to have fun things planned to help pass the time. If your going to be uncomfortable you may as well be uncomfortable doing something fun/interesting. I have really enjoyed actually sticking to weekly date night with DH and fitting in as many 'before the baby gets here' activities as we possibly can.
Exactly what type of movement should one feel from LO during labor? I haven't had any contractions to date, so I have no experience at all. The whole laboring at home until contractions are close together just makes me nervous because I feel like I am not going to know if something is wrong.
@smcniff *lurking* I didn't feel movement of Olivia when I went into labor but my water broke before I had any contractions. Just my experience. *Hugs* you are going to do great!

Ok so the past 4 days i wake up with my right arm numb and tingly. Laying in different positions (sometimes on my left sometimes on my right but usually on my left) the first day i thought it was because i was holding my pillow and the elbow was bent but it has happened when my arm is straight. Any ideas on this one?

I'm wondering if you guys are dealing with this and have any tips. Lately, at the end of the work day, I feel like I can barely walk because there's so much pressure pushing down. I walked two miles today after school and was so incredibly uncomfortable with the pressure. It feels like I have to pee and poop really badly, but I don't really have to. It's so frustrating and keeping me from working out as I'd like. Any tips or suggestions? Is this Braxton Hicks? Is there anything I can do?

This has been happening to me for both arms. At first it was just the numb/tingly feeling of hand/wrist or arm fallen asleep, but recently I've been noticing also just a general soreness in my wrists and fingers that leads me to think I'm dealing with pregnancy induced carpal tunnel (not really sure what to do about it, just have been trying to take it easy on the wrists and hands). I'm not saying that's what you've got going on, but maybe something to watch out for if the numb/tingly feeling develops into other sensations in the same areas.
Perhaps it's really just the way you are sleeping on that side paired with the extra volume of blood circulating in your body causing that limb to fall asleep in a different way than before you were pregnant?

I'm dealing with something similar and you and I are at about the same point in pregnancy I think. I don't know what it is, I keep meaning to ask my OB about it when I see him but it gets lost in other things. For me it feels like a pressure + tightness but only towards my pelvic area. I get that feeling of being barely able to walk - it's not exactly painful, I just feel like if I shuffle along it's less noticeable? I also noticed I'm starting to hold my bump from underneath, like make a shelf with my hands to take the pressure off and it seems to relieve it a little. At first I was thinking BH but it doesn't feel like it has a start/stop, it's just this lingering pressure/tightness that is worst in the evenings/nights and doesn't seem to change with a change in activity or anything like I hear BH would. So I'm with you... anyone have tips or suggestions?

Yeah - It was last night I noticed myself doing it, and as I shuffled back to bed after the umpteenth pee run of the night I made a mental note to look into a maternity support belt of some kind. Great minds, right?

I experience tbe same thing. I dont think its BH as that is more cramp like. I think its just the pressure of the growing baby and spreading pelvis
