Lazy Things (or genius 3rd trimester 'life hacks')

I'd love to know what you're doing these days that's a bit different, either to save time, energy, or just out of laziness? Some of these might be good ideas for others, so please share your 3rd tri life hacks!

I have a grabber/ claw grasp that I use to grab things high or low. DD1 has one too so she's also enjoying using hers. It's almost a game.

Today I plugged my blow dryer in the surge protector next to my couch and sat while I dried my hair. We have no plugs in the bathroom, and all the others are on the baseboards or behind furniture, so this was both practical, relaxing, and prevented unnecessary bending.

Mostly, I just ask my husband to do everything for me... But yeah I sit down on the toilet while I'm blow drying my hair too. Yesterday my son climbed into an empty Tupperware and wanted to be pushed around, so I just kicked him with my foot a couple times. I told my h today that I wish I could record how I feel right now in case I ever feel like I want to get pregnant again!

I have been paying my son to do chores, because I just can't. snarkysparklefart I also sit on the coach to blow dry and straighten my hair.

I'm horrible. I sit on the couch with DH and realize I'm thirsty, so I say "I really need to get up and refill my water bottle."

Then I wait about ten seconds, and DH gets up refills my water bottle for me. God bless him, the man is well-trained and I'm a terrible spoiled pretty pretty princess.

I can't how many times I've slapped sliced cheese, apples, salami, and popcorn on plates and called it dinner. If I make the popcorn on the stove, it counts as cooking, right??

I'm with @whitfty. Just the right words or amount of movement on my part and DH is up doing whatever chore needs to be done. Especially helpful when the cats want to be fed at 5:00 a.m. DH has picked up a lot of my slack, so no real shortcuts here. I'm showering less; I guess that's something.

DH does my shoes and socks most days atm -.- also with whitfry on the water and other items call out...lol

I lent my grabber to my friend but I kinda wish I still had it... was very useful after having my hips replaced. Very similar pains now and with my loose hips, my tendons have been getting caught in the joint -.-

I've given up on the subtle "who will do this for me" cues. Have gone straight to the hollering for DH or even... dun dun dun... Texting him ?

It's more of what I'm not doing, which is everything!

I did learn how to put socks on with one hand that way I don't have to fully bend over! I also grab a bunch of food/snacks in the morning and bring them to the couch with me so I'm set until lunchtime. I'm not proud.

I really need to get a grabber arm, I have short little t-rex arms to begin with but add in the belly and now I can barely reach anything.

At the office I've taken to just pointing at things on the ground that I've dropped and gladly people just take pity on me and pick them up for me. It sounds super pathetic but I'm glad I work with so many men because all the younger ones are extremely considerate because they can see I'm struggling (compared to how active I was and all the running around I used to do) and all the older ones have kids know from experience how much they had to do for their wives when they were pregnant. Not to say that the women aren't also helpful, but they are more supportive in emotional/sane ways than the men. Overall my coworkers are very good to me, they know I wouldn't be asking for help if I didn't need it.

DH has also been excellent at doing things without me asking like filling up my water glass or carrying things around the house for me. I guess I just look so pathetic at this point.

As for legit hacks, I don't really have any killer ones that I can think of. I definitely sit down on the toilet while I'm blow drying my hair or things like that...I'm all about conserving energy right now.

I also have an eager to help DD. During this pregnancy she's learned to open the fridge and find bottles of water for me, and bring them. As a bonus for her, she's usually allowed to snatch a string cheese, juice box, etc while she's in there. I love the idea of a pile of snacks coleybug13 lol. But if I did get up the dog and kid would have a field day.

H puts my pants on for me, and sometimes my underwear. Moving my legs enough to accomplish it myself is excruciating. He also plugs my phone in every night, I leave it on his pillow.

I can usually get the kids to get me most things, but if not if I look like I'm trying and not going anywhere H will hop up and do it for me.

So all you ladies talking about sitting down and blow drying your hair, are making me feel all kinds of bad. I totally can't remember the last time I blow dried!! Haha. Actually, my laziness has basically been cutting down my beauty routine majorly. Mostly because I can't lean close enough to the mirror anymore without the bump getting in the way.

My biggest life hack that is coming in super handy is making EVERYTHING in the crockpot. And freezing shit beforehand so all I have to do is throw said shit into said crockpot.

Monday confession: I only blow dryed my hair today because it was really cold and I took a shower right before my appointment. I usually air dry.. Pregnant or not. I have a DGAF haircut and my an has no qualms about helping me pluck a stray chin hair if needed, so regular bathing & chap stick is about it for me beauty wise.

I haven't sat to do my makeup and blow dry my hair this pg but i def did it with R. I had a mirror on the floor against the wall and all my makeup and hair stuff there with it. Unfortunately i cannot keep that setup this round with a toddler.

Speaking of my toddler- i utilize her to pick up stuff off the floor i drop. She gets soo exicted so it's win/win.

At work I'm really trying not to get up that much. When i do i make sure i do everything i need to- take anything to the recycle bin, file anything, fill my water, get a snack, go to the bathroom- talk to anyone i need to, everything!

I've started picking out my clothes the night before. Somehow, I usually get a burst of energy before bedtime, and my hip is usually killing me in the morning, so having clothes set out has been a lifesaver.

Unfortunately my other "hack" is ordering out all the food. Second breakfast, lunch, snack, my wallet can't take it, but even reheating food often seems like too much to do.

My 18 month old will actually help quite a bit when prompted. I've been getting him to put his clothes away that are in the bottom drawers cause I don't want to bend down. My husband also does a lot for me.

I would say my only "hack" is doing less makeup but putting on a bright shade of lipstick. It makes me feel like I'm wearing more makeup and actually got ready when I'm really wearing minimal makeup for work.

I also utilize dd, she loves being helpful and I'm struggling its a win/win. If/when I do my makeup I sit on the couch with my handheld mirror. Other than that I don't have any real good hacks I wish I did.

I've started doing a little dinner prep earlier in the day. Or if I'm chopping up veggies for dinner I'll double it so I have some ready for another dinner. I've also been sticking to a meal plan. These are all things I tried to do before and I just never would follow through. But they are really saving my ass lately.

When I put the kids clothes away I sit in the bed. My kids will also fill my water glass, and pick things off the ground. In the mornings I will wake my son up then go and lie back down in bed with my daughter while she watches a alittle netflix on my iPad.

Bc I'm a SAHM I don't do a lot of "normal" womanly things daily. So a lot of your hacks are apart of my "natural" routine. Lol

I don't blow dry my hair, ever.
I only wear make up when we see family or friends.
If something falls on the ground, I've given up or let dd pick it up!
So I guess I'm not much help. Lol!

I've stopped washing my hair so much. Maybe like every 2-3 days. Drying it is just too much work. Afternoon naps are a must!

Hair drying? What's that? And make-up... I can literally count on one hand the amount of times I've applied it since going off work at six weeks. I am one hot mess.

Subtle hints aren't my style so poor DH just gets a shit eating angelic grin and a "please?" when I want him to do something. The one thing this doesn't seem to work that well with is back rubs, but otherwise he's pretty amazing about it.

I only do laundry when I've worn everything that fits three times. Frozen pizza, pasta, and salad mixes are my best friends. No, my cleaning lady is my best friend, then convenience food. Slip-on shoes only. Lots of naps. Capitalizing on the short bursts of energy that occur once in a blue moon, even if the timing could be better. Lists, lists and more lists to combat baby brain! Did I mention naps?

I'm still doing most things.. DH will help w my shoes once in a while, but wear flats or flip flops when I can. I sit in a chair instead of on the floor for my nanny kids story time at the library. DH brings down the laundry and then brings it back up, but I fold and put it away still. He picks up most things on the floor, takes out the trash, and is doing the lions share of cooking lately. I put my hair up in a lot of pony tails..too lazy to blow dry and straighten..

I simply pretend to be super independent (I usually am, really) and when SO finds out I did something or sees me attempting to do something that he finds "dangerous," he leaps into action and handles it for me. Or he scolds me and tells me to let him handle it next time. Yes, sir!

I kind of do this too. I get all pumped up like I'm really going to do it myself. 

Although it backfired over the weekend a little. I think it was my fault. 

I said 'Do you trust me to be hanging Hunter's curtain rod right now?' and DH thought for a moment then said "I guess." I was disappointed. I did attempt it myself, but only got 1 side successfully screwed in. I gave up and told him I needed him to save me. He finished for me.

I also came into the living room with the ladder on Sunday and asked if he thought I'd be able to reach our ceiling fan with that ladder to fix the ring. That one worked. He immediately jumped out of his recliner and did it for me. Mwahahaha.

Naps!! All the naps! I'm lucky because DS still takes about a 2 hour nap after preschool. I lay down and rest even if I don't nap (usually do) it gives me enough energy to get through the evening.
