At almost 4 weeks LO is eating 2oz on demand, about 12 times a day. He was sleeping 3-4 hour stretches at night but the last few nights he is back to every 2 hours looking for a feeding. Is it time to up the volume I feed him? Is there a max? I read on the Kelly breastfeeding site that at a month max stomach capacity is 2.5-5 oz....just looking for a little advice! TIA!
Breastmilk consumption can be very baby specific. Just continue to up the bottle amounts gradually and if your baby doesn't finish or spits up a lot that is a sign you are giving too much.
Yeah, it really varies from baby to baby and mother to mother. My LO is 5 m/o and ~17.5 lbs and 26 inches long. He regularly takes 6oz (which is on the high side for BF baby).
Sounds pretty normal. As PP suggested, try upping the amount and see what happens. Around 4 weeks adjusted my twins were eating about 3oz every 3 hours.
