Thought maybe we could use a separate thread for this.
What signs are you working on? What signs is baby flashing?
Dd does milk and has for a while. At first I wasn't sure, but she's been consistently hungry when I think she's doing it, and it's gotten clearer and is now usually accompanied by mmmm and a squinty face. She also does it while nursing. I've been signing it to her before nursing pretty much since birth.
I also sign diaper, more, and all done to her regularly. She may be starting to do all done, but she waves her arms around all the time for everything so it's hard to say definitively.
I do milk, eat, more, all done, diaper, and tired. I believe she knows what they all mean, but just in the last week has she started signing milk. She signs while eating, hopefully will progress to beforehand instead of lunging and hitting my breasts.

We sign milk (called boobie here), more, water, hungry, mama, daddy, play, finished, eat/food, and then random other signs that I know when I remember to use them in conversation with her. I can't wait for her use them. She sometimes does milk, but I'm not sure if it's for real.
We signed for milk, food, drink and more. The only one DS consistently uses is more. That's no surprise as he is super greedy. I use the sign for "all gone" but funnily enough he ignores that one most of all bless him. It was so great when he did his first sign though - I've loved signing with him.
I wish I had continued to be consistent with this. I was from about 3-6 months but didn't feel like she was getting it and slowly stopped. We were doing mommy, daddy, and hungry. But at the library during story time, they do sign language so I'm trying to get back into it.
We do milk as well and I got really excited when she did it the other day but now she's doing it at everything she wants. I do eat and all done as well but she hasn't done those. I want to do sleep and a bathroom sign since we've been doing sine potty training but I haven't yet.
DD will sign milk when she wants me. Whether it's to feed her or just to hold her, she associates that sign with me.
We were just questioning this as DH was holding dd and she was looking at me and signing milk haha. It was bedtime, and she does nurse before she goes down, but milk and I need mommy are pretty much the same meaning.
We've been working on "more" because DS shrieks when I'm not feeding him fast enough haha Today he clapped his hands instead of shrieking so I guess that works..,
We do drink, milk, eat, all done, more, dog, momma, daddy, banana, juice. Like others I'm just being consistent and hoping he starts to really show me he's getting it at some point. I'm pretty sure he has done the "drink" and "eat" because he has put his hands to his mouth when hungry. At least I'm hoping!
I'm not sure that DS actually gets it, but at daycare they do more and all done so I've tried to continue those at home. He typically just stares at me though... So... Yeah, maybe I'm just signing to myself.
Just bumping this up. DD was just fussing a bit while I was doing something and when I looked up saw that she was signing milk to herself! I thought that was pretty good progress from just last week and was curious if others are seeing new progress as well? ETA- it was close to feeding time and she was actually hungry.
How consistent do you need to be in order for LO to catch on?
I'm wondering because MIL watches DS while I'm at work and I'm not 100% sure that they will actually do the signs - they'll most likely forget or just think it's silly and not do it.
@usernameedit I forget many times, but then just do the sign and say it 4 times in a row the next feeding. You could always do something similar for when you feed. I would let MIL know signs like more and eat can really help her avoid frustration possibly.
