After seeing buster's cute baby playing this morning, it got me wondering what other types of sensory games or activities is everyone doing? I plan on trying rainbow spaghetti this week.
Im interested to read some replies here. I'd really like to see what the other ladies are doing, I could use some suggestions myself for more of these types of activities.
nothing here.. this kid just likes to feel everything and i don't really stop him unless it's like.. the inside of an electrical socket. or the dog's mouth. or eye. or my eye..

This is pretty much us, as well lol. She just kind of crawls around the house and gets into everything! And I just kind of chase her around making sure she doesn't hurt herself. But yeah, I pretty much just give her free reign of the place... Although the dog has been traumatized at this point... she bit his tail last week and hes been scarce ever since, poor thing. So now he just stays out of her way lol

I basically let daycare handle this. I feel like a terrible mom. Weekends is wrangling my toddler so I feel LO just gets the shaft. Maybe I should actually aim to do something like this every now and then.

I could Google but what is this rainbow spaghetti you speak of?
I don't do anything either. I do see sensory activities on her daily daycare sheets sometimes. I have such a short amount of time with her between getting home from work, dinner and her bedtime, we just play and/or snuggle. Never thought to do sensory activities. Have to follow this thread for ideas for weekend activities with her.

We did rainbow spaghetti with a few other toddlers last summer. It was a hit! We did it outside in a small kiddie pool.
We do a ton of sensory and art things, but didn't start until DD was closer to 18 months old. DS gets to start earlier because it would be impossible to keep him out of her stuff. Here's my board on Pinterest if anyone is interested:
Posted in old randoms but whipped cream on black paper, they can also rip different colored papers, water play with a bucket, cooked rice, paint with yogurt

I don't really plan much as way of activities... I just kind of make sure I always give him the opportunity to check things out. I always put his food on his tray and let him play with it. He's also into combing my hair with his fingers.

My LO's favorite sensory game is where he whacks the spoon out of my hand while I'm feeding him and then smears it all over his tray. And shirt. And hair. Wheee!

This morning I found some crusty old baby food coming out of DS's nose....

We have done a little bit of sensory play. I've made cloud dough, cooked spaghetti, just let her play with pain flour with sprinkles in it, and water play. I want to paint with her but haven't made paint.
I have done far less with DS than I did with DD - definitely because my time with him is dictated by the school run and DD's after school activities and ridiculous social life. So we are limited to the classes we can attend and his gigantic mid morning nap. Plus - we have a brand new house and I'm still in the novelty stage of keeping it clean so anything involving paint, foam etc brings me out in a cold sweat! But - we do play with lots of different toys and makeshift junk....his favourite seems to involve sitting in my laundry basket while I fill it up with blocks, spoons, Tupperware, socks and other random bits of junk. Then he gets really serious and throws it all out as furiously as he can. Does that count as sensory lol?!

I think I'm too lazy about cleaning up messes do these with my kids! DD loves ripping apart all the junk mail catalogs we get in the mail. I made salt dough with DD1 once and she loved it, she was 2. Maybe I'll attemp ooblek , on a bath night, in the bathtub

Ha ha - you are so like me!! I also give DS the junk mail to play with. We have these cool place mats on our dining table that are fancy paper (they sound rubbish but they are nice I promise!) When they get dirty, we just replace them with a new one off the roll. I give the stained ones to DS to play with at his high chair to keep him busy while we are still eating. Bonus!
We do water table made out of her highchair tray. She loves her touch and feel books and I have also let her paint and made colored spaghetti which I ended up putting in a ziplock bag and letting her mush. I have also just searched Pinterest for ideas. We've done bubbles too. She loves those.
Thanks flockofmoosen for the edible ideas. O puts everything in her mouth and I just can't see using shaving cream or something like I have seen before. birdhut could you elaborate on the water table. It sounds fun. Also I've gotta get some bubbles, she would love those I think.

I just put her in her highchair and put water on the tray then put some toys in it. She just splashes it all out and loves it. I would suggest a towel under the highchair I want to try doing it in a small plastic storage container and setting her in her old baby tub then putting that inside of there with toys in it.
We did this today! FYI to anyone who hasn't done this, food coloring is a pain to get off! Or maybe I missed the memo on that one had to give DD a bath afterwards. BUT she had a lot of fun playing. Now I just need to go back through this thread to find more ideas :-)
She gets to participate where feasible when DD1 has sensory type therapy activities. Otherwise she eats and plays. Plenty of sensory development there.
This, except make it a DS instead of a DD. Sensory stuff is everywhere. Petting the dog, dancing to music, etc. I don't go out of my way to provide sensory experiences for her...but I'm also way more lenient in what I let her do...and to put it mildly she's all up into everything she can be (especially if it's big brothers...case in point just take a look at my avatar where she's at his train table)
