Canuck view of the US election?

So other than the obvious horror over Trump even being in the race.....what do you ladies all think?

How much do you follow their politics?

I must admit most of what I know about the American electoral system comes from watching West Wing and Scandal but the whole Trump thing blows my mind.  Part of me thinks he's a stark raving loon and the other part of me is really worried that he's smarter than we give him credit for and has a really scarry agenda...

I may eat my words but I'm living in Canada as a US citizen and there is no way Trump will actually get elected. The odds are extremely slim. He has alienated so much of the Latino vote and you can't win a presidential election anymore without capturing the Latino and African American vote. They make up such a large percentage of the electorate compared to the white voters that Trump is catering to now. It's a huge uphill battle for Trump.

Not a huge fan of any of the candidates honestly but I felt the same about our election.

DH studied politics so we pay a fair bit of attention and he explains stuff I don't understand so that's helpful.

Trump scares me because even though he can't actually do some of the things he's said due to the constitution the fact that there are so many people who support what he says is concerning.

I'm also an American, living in Canada, but I think you're wrong on this. I think he (unfortunately) has a big chance at getting elected. It's scary, but from what I've seen, I think he has a very big chance.

So once again this is just a repeat of 2008 and 2012 where the republicans forget that American is not made up of white voters anymore. They need to evolve the party platform or else they will be literally non existent in a few years.

Why else do you think so many republicans in government are rejecting trump? Because they know statistics wise he is unelectable.

Actually, he's shockingly the most popular candidate among female Republican voters. How, I have no idea with all the awful things he has said about women. I'm sorry I can't find the link but I was totally shocked to see it.
I still don't like his chances of winning but I'm not sure how much of that is based in fact and how much is just wishful thinking that it can't possibly happen, people wouldn't actually do that.

I really don't follow American politics. Just what my local news covers.

I'm not that surprised Trump is even in the race. I think alot of uneducated voters can relate to his views and antics. It will be scary if he actually wins. He can't win right?


ETA- I really don't know what the voters from Trump look like. Maybe some are highly educated? But the way he is portrayed on my news is that his voters are gullible. They aired a clip of him saying he loves the uneducated voter so that's why I have that in my head.
