I was bored at work today and started day dreaming names and looking up new ones. I ran across 2 that have caught my attention.
Demelza and Hannelore
I don't know exactly how I feel about them, I just wanted some feedback. I like Demelza nn Demi or even Elza. Hannelore I just find interesting but I feel like it looks like a smush name.
Hannelore's is the name of the bridal boutique where I bought my wedding dress years ago. Fine name for a store, not so much for a child. Not sure how I feel about Demelza.
I like rolling these around but not sure how I feel about either one. I do think I prefer Demelza to Hannelore but call me crazy, I actually don't mind Hannelore!
I love Hannelore, but that may be due to a lot of Germanic/Scandinavian background and influence on me. Demelza is NMS. Hannelore can be NN'd to Hanne (han-nah, kind of), which is also a legit name by itself.

I am almost positive Demelza was in Harry Potter - I think one of the girls who joined the Gryfinndor Qudditch team in book 6. I thought it was pretty badass, but I love names that use Z (I love Ezra or Ezekiel for a boy). I'd probably nn a Demelza as Mazie.
I agree with the evil stepsister vibe for Demelza. Hannelore is OK but it reminds me of Hannibal, which I hate. Otherwise I would actually really like it.
I've never heard Hannelore before, but I kind of adore it. Demelza feels a bit old fashioned to me. And I usually love old fashioned. But I tend to avoid names with "z" sounds for some reason.
I really love Aisling (pronounced Ashlynn) for a girls name. It would have been on my list if we were having a girl.
Is Hannelore pronounced Hanna-Laura? I like it but probably wouldn't use it. Demelza sounds like she would be one or the bad guys on the Smurfs with Azrael and Gargamel. NMS at all.
