1. Emmett is 2 months today 2. He is cooing tons. He always smiles at his sister and he stops crying when she sings to him. He loves a stuffed monkey that rattles and crinkles. 3. Challenges: DH had his first work travel last night. Overnight with two kids who don't sleep is rough! 4. This little guy is so much bigger than his sister was. Is it a boy thing? He's 13.5 pounds and 25 1/4 in. He fully fills out 6 mo clothes. (88% weight 99% height)
pros521 I can't imagine overnight alone with two kids. DH just told me he has to travel out of the country in march leaving me alone with 3 kids for a week. I may die!!!
How cute that he likes a stuffed monkey! My boy is big too though not as big as yours are you and DH tall?
DH travels a lot. This month he is gone at least one night a week. And 4 nights at the end of the month. That one I'm calling in grandpa reinforcement. He may not be helpful in the night, but he will at least be there for bedtime and just as some sanity.

1. Age of LO 6.5 weeks
2. Milestones? What's baby up to? We've started to put her to bed at 9pm in her crib. She doesn't usually fuss much if at all, and goes to sleep on her own.
3. Challenges? Still mostly just daytime napping, but I've decided to go with the flow on it. If I try to put her in her crib, even when she's obviously very tired, she'll just cry, and I have trouble dealing with that.
4. Anything else you want to talk about? I joined a mother's meetup group last week. I went to a playdate in the park, and while the other babies were all older, 4+ months, it was really nice to have mothers to talk to. I'm looking forward to going to more of them.
I noticed a lot of the events are library story times in the area. For STMs, did you ever take your babies to those, and if so when did you start going? Most of them say it's for 0-12 months for the infant story times, but I'm thinking LO probably won't really get much out of it for a few months.
QOTW: any valentines day plans? No, we never did anything for Valentines Day even before LO. There's a pretty good chance I'll get some chocolates, though.

That explains his height!! I hope you get through the month ok! Grandpa coming over sounds like a good idea.
apsalartoll that's awesome you joined a moms group! I should do that. I was looking into one of those little gym things but they start at 4 months. I never did the library time. It might just be nice to get out of the house.
1. Age of LO 10 1/2 weeks 2. Milestones? What's baby up to? Lots of smiling and giggling. Can lift his chest up high during tummy time. 3. Challenges? Like everyone else it's the nap time. We have no schedule and he won't nap anywhere except the RNP with me rocking it. I have tried the crib many times but he just crys. He still sleeps in my room at night. I plan to move him to his room at 12 weeks. This is my third kid but for some reason I am so nervous to move him out of my room! 4. Anything else you want to talk about? Just the fact that I still have not started exercising and I live in yoga pants because I can't fit into anything else.
QOTW: any valentines day plans? We may go out for dinner. My sister volunteered to babysit. I normally don't like to go out to dinner on valentines because restaurants have a limited menu and charge more but since we don't get to go out much I should take advantage of the babysitter!
1. Age of LO - 6 weeks 2. Milestones? What's baby up to? - hello growth spurt. He's been up to attaching himself to my boobs with short breaks for cat naps. 3. Challenges? - see #2 4. Anything else you want to talk about? We have our 6 week pedi appointment tomorrow. We haven't had one since two weeks, and he was still 6 ounces below his birth weight then. I'm excited to learn how much he has grown in the past month! I'm not looking forward to his shots. DH is coming with us because I told him I'm probably going to cry when LO cries.
QOTW: any valentines day plans? Have a friend coming to visit so DH and I can go out! I'm probably going to miss LO terribly, but we will only be gone 3-4 hours.
2. No major milestones just still smile in a bit and holding his head up a bit.
3. The challenges are still sleep. He is still feeding every 2 hours. I am now back to work as well so balancing getting up in the morning and getting ready for work as well as feeding little one before I leave has been going okay.
4. I hate not knowing how my son is doing while I'm away. My husband has been home with him and said he's been fussy but I'm not sure why. I am just hoping to know what's going on with him while I'm away. My husband seems to be doing well with it though.
For some reason we always do Chinese carryout and movies at home for Valentine's Day. I don't think this year is going to be any different.
Hello ladies. This is the weekly AMA Check in. Hi. rn536, thanks for doing the check in! 1. Age of LO 8weeks, 4 days 2. Milestones? What's baby up to? Lots of "talking" and laughing! We have "conversations" and LO seems amused when we imitate him. 3. Challenges? Sleep situation...because of our ongoing nursing challenges that got worse with 6 week growth spurt, I started sleeping downstairs with him on a recliner so I could nurse as frequently as he wanted, I just feel more secure nursing upright in MOTN. We were waking H up a lot w/getting up every 2 hours. I decided it was time to go back upstairs w/LO in RnP next to bed, since he does nap well in it during day. Last night he went down at 9:30 for about 1.5 hours then was absolutely hysterical for almost 1/2 hour, refused to nurse or be consoled, and then slept 6 hours straight in bed w/me. Woke up very happy. 4. Anything else you want to talk about? I'm going back to work tomorrow (part time, Thurs-Sun) and have mixed emotions over it. I miss being at work since it is my passion, and I feel very guilty about wanting to go back. My childcare situation isn't really definite, more a patch as we go and that is making me very anxious. I have a client who's nanny generously offered to watch him while the kids are in school, and I really want her to. But there are 2 hours a day she has to do things with other kids and can't take LO with he, and I'll still be at work. Then, husband of the client decided he's not sure insurance wise he wants LO there. My folks could watch him but have some health things going on that is requiring Dr visits and PT. H's dad/stepmom would take him but I'm not 100% comfortable with that. I have an Aunt who can watch him in afternoons, but I work 45 minutes sway and need to be there no later than 11am. Ugh. Too much anxiety.
QOTW: any valentines day plans? H would like to go out to dinner...more likely we will takeout sushi snd some wine snd watch a movie w/LO and the dogs,

path75 wow back to work and still up every two hours. That's rough. That's great DH can watch baby. I know it's hard not being there. Maybe he's cranky because of the 6 week growth spurt?? eliz77 isn't it cute when they "talk" to you?! Good luck tomorrow back to work. Don't feel guilty for wanting to go back. There's nothing wrong w that. I hope the babysitting works out. That sounds stressful. Can you look into hiring your own nanny? Care.com or something??
Hello ladies. This is the weekly AMA Check in. 1. Age of LO -Lexi is 9.5 weeks 2. Milestones? What's baby up to? - She is smiling a lot and got her two month shots Monday! She did good and thankfully no fever or anything, she slept all day afterwards. 3. Challenges? - she is anti-naps and expects to be held most of the day! But I love the snuggles, it's all my fault!!! 4. Anything else you want to talk about? We are getting a new bedroom set and I'm beyond excited!
babar78 glad she did well with the shots! Seems like all of our LOs resist naps. Glad to know it's normal! You are brave taking both kids out to dinner. I haven't done that yet with my 3. How is DD1 handling the baby and the change that comes with it?

1. Baby is now nine weeks. 2. She's smiling, has pretty good head and neck control, and loves bath time. She's slept through the night twice (10-6:30) and reliably gives us 5-6 hour stretches with only one walk-up. She's easy, and we're lucky. 3. I hate pumping, but I continue with her 50/50 breastmilk and formula diet because quitting seems selfish. I only pump 3-4 times daily and yield 15-20 oz., so I really don't have much to complain about it. On a related note, I don't think I'm ever going to let my husband anywhere near my nipples again. I didn't breastfeed or pump with my first, so I really had no idea how nauseated I would feel now whenever anything touched my nipples. Maybe that's just me, but it skeeves me out big time. 4. Had a Mirena inserted early last week. Woot.

I got a Paragard yesterday. I had one a few years ago and it was really painful to get inserted. The doctor said it would be a lot easier after having a baby, and I'm very happy to say she was right. It was a breeze, and there wasn't any cramping at all afterwards.

We discussed IUDs today at my appointment. My OB said after knowing what pain is from labor, getting an IUD inserted isn't so bad. Then I had to remind her I never experienced labor. I have been on the fence about getting an IUD and opted for the mini pill today to buy myself some more time to think about it.
apsalartoll how did you deliver? I'm wondering if it would still be painful for me because I had a scheduled c-section. I don't even know if I ever dialated because there wasn't a point to check it.

Yeah this dinner thing is going to be interesting and we are going to a steakhouse! Hopefully we will time it right and Lexi will sleep through most of it. Morgan is doing well in her big sister role! We are still working with her about being gentle with Lexi and not to throw toys in the bassinet!

pooky08 I had a vaginal delivery. But while it hurt the first time, it wasn't so bad that I wouldn't do it again. It's hard to beat IUDs for convenience. I suggest you take something for the pain (Tylenol, ibuprofen, whatever you normally would take) an hour beforehand, and take more as often as you can afterward if it hurts. The insertion pain was pretty bad, but it didn't last very long, just a few minutes. The cramps afterward were like those from a very bad period, and they lasted about 12 hours.
I'm not sure that cervical dilation is the only thing, anyway. I think it also has to do with having had something in your uterus before.
ainslie325 so jealous of your baby's great sleeping! We had one night of sleep 9 pm through 5 am and that was it. He usually wakes twice a night and then I am up for the day sometimes at 4:30 am. Today it was 3:30 cause baby would not go back to sleep. That's great you are giving such dedication to pumping. And I understand about the whole nipple thing but one day when pumping is long gone you will enjoy the sexual part of it again. You may not see if now but it will happen!
I felt absolutely nothing when my Mirena was placed. At least, no more than a pap. I'd hardly even call it uncomfortable. I took two ibuprofen afterward and had zero cramping. Progestin only, so no breastfeeding problems, and far more convenient than pills, which I've taken for years. I've had two babies vaginally, so maybe this contributes.
rn536 Hang in there with the sleeping. I hope you're able to have a restful night soon!
