Well my OB was wrong. I have thrush. I'm so worked up. Now I have to apply this cream to my nipples, apply this liquid to all of Olivia's mouth, and use special diaper tag cream on her. I feel like a terrible mom. I just want to cry. I'm so overwhelmed right now. Sorry just need some love from you awesome ladies.
So many ((hugs)). You're a great mama. Totally not your fault at all. I went through it with 2 of my boys. It is tough! You'll get through it though. Just make sure you are sanitizing any nuks too. Good luck.
Thrush is so frustrating and painful! I'm sorry you're dealing with this. PPs have great advice. You can also take grapefruit seed extract and/or a probiotic to fight the yeast internally. I basically got thrush anytime I stopped eating yogurt for breakfast. Good bacteria can really help!

Do not be upset with yourself!! My youngest just had the worst case of thrush and yeast diaper rash and I understand the frustration! We also had the special mouth stuff and then the extra steps for diaper changes. It will be okay momma!
Oh you're not a bad mom! We got thrush when my little guy was just a tiny baby. It's awful and it's SO hard to get rid of. I also recommend probiotics and yogurt and washing your bras and tanks in hot water and vinegar. Vinegar/water solution on your nipples can also help clear it up after nursing sessions. And try to let everything air out as much as possible. Big big hugs!!!
Thank you ladies. After my DH came home I'm feeling better. It's just so overwhelming taking care of a new born alone and now with the meds... just oy. He comes home and helps me and everything just seems like it's going to be ok. The 4 hours of sleep helped too!
((Hugs)). Hang in there it will get better!!! You are a great mother and don't ever think otherwise! These things happen and it's nothing to blame yourself for. Keep your head up! You are doing a great job!
I'm so sorry it's persisting. I think it can take a few days for the normal treatments to work, but if it still doesn't go away in a day or two you may have resistant yeast. I ended up on diflucan/fluconazole a few times because I couldn't get rid of it no matter how much vinegar and hot water I used in the laundry (and APNO on my nipples, and lots of air time, and a probiotic, and Nystatin for DS...I did it all!). The key is to make sure to treat yourself and LO both, even if only one of you has symptoms, so you'll need two prescriptions. This page was my bible:
Be sure you sterilize everything you can that touches your nips your milk baby's mouth or bum Or wash in hot water with a vinegar rinse even towels and bras are a good idea Fresh air and sunshine helps but don't flash the neighbors. Diluted vinegar rinse on nips can help Even lowering your sugar intake can reduce the sugars to feed the thrush although the yeast loves breastmilk. Make sure you aren't hanging out in bras or nursing pads wet with breastmilk Diflucan can be a lifesaver. Apno alone is usually not quite enough to get rid of it. Dr Newman and kellymom have goof info on thrush

@amyg is wise. Diflucan was the only thing that finally worked for us. I did flash the neighbors. I hung out on the back deck topless in the sun. It helped. I didn't care what they thought of me.
