We had an ok night but I have a lot of confusion that I suppose I need to call the doctor about. Since she's been sick J has been waking up frequently during the night. Usually we can just pat her back and she'll go back to sleep but eventually that won't work and we put her in our bed. So last night we had to take turns for about an hour and a half to get her to sleep. Anyway ...
She woke up around 10:15 screaming and crying out as if she was hurt. We both went in there and she was a mess. She wouldn't let us touch her, didn't want to be held, just screamed. I put her on the floor and she would hit our hands away and just roll around on the floor. We got her to our bed to try to check if something bit her or if anything was wrong but she just screamed and fought us. After about 10 minutes I asked her if she wanted a bottle and she said yes. Gave her a bottle and she drank it, smiled at us and fell asleep on me.
I let her sleep on me for about two hours but then tried to move her off so I could finish getting ready for bed and it started all over again. We checked her again, changed her diaper but same thing ... screaming, flailing ... and then she asked for a bottle. Gave her a bottle, she downed it and then went to sleep and slept the rest of the night.
It was so weird and we were worried that something was wrong. I'm thinking maybe her stomach hurts because she isn't eating much? Since Saturday she has literally only eaten a yogurt and a fruit packet for all meals. I'm also wondering if the medication is upsetting her stomach as she's been really gassy, so maybe that's a part of the problem?
On top of that ... we took her to the walk in clinic on Sunday and they did a strep test. The test was negative but the doctor said he was sure the test was wrong and would send away for a culture. He called this morning and said the culture came back negative as well. I asked if we should stop the medicine and he said no, to keep giving it. I guess I'm going to call her actual doctor and see what to do because I'm worried the medicine might be part of the reason for our really odd night and I'm not sure we should keep giving it.
Sorry for the long post, it was just a weird and kind of worrisome night.
Is it possible she is teething? I only say that bc I went through this exact same experience with V a few months ago. She went totally nuts and screamed bloody murder. Wouldn't let me hold her. Just rolled around on the ground freaking out. I have her Tylenol and half an hour later she was fine. It was horrible.
