Internatial Background Checks

Does anyone have any experience with international background checks? My DH and I lived overseas in the Netherlands from 2010-2013, and the agency is requesting that we have a background check from there as well for our home study paperwork. I'm concerned it will take forever...not sure if any of you have any experience with something like this, and can give me an idea on timing. I fully realize that every country is different, so obviously the timeline won't be gospel.  I just don't want it to take forever...

I don't have any experience, but I would just plan for/expect it to take forever. It sucks, but tracking down paperwork usually takes a lot longer than we would all like. The whole adoption world runs on its own timetable, which is slooooooowwww most of the time. Feel free to vent here anytime!

Well...I got a bit more information! Apparently, DH's went through without a problem, and they're already sending the paperwork back to us (the only thing that has ever gone quickly with the Netherlands). Unfortunately, they lost my paperwork, so I had to resend in everything. Hopefully, this one will go quickly as well!

I moved to US in 2006 and was never asked for any extra background check...

Our agency said it was for anything in the last 5 years. We moved back from the Netherlands, in 2013, so since it was within 5 years, we had to provide it. Thankfully, we figured out what form we needed, and are now just waiting for it in the mail.
