I'm sorry IseeyouRN that's a very logical reason to leave the bastard. Guess I should've elaborated my UO a bit. Long story short my BIL is having a midlife crisis says SIL doesn't do his laundry or cook enough and he doesn't know what he wants so he decided to move out. He won't give her a straight answer about anything and just doesn't want to deal with anything. Guess I was more venting cause it's a sucky situation and they have two kids he isn't considering.
That's definitely a dick move. My DH would have been long gone if he followed that logic. I hope he gets his shit together and realizes he's being an asshole.
My UO is that college football players should be paid, but they shouldn't get a degree. (I changed my mind).
I talked to DH about it and he says that it's really a myth that they're getting an education out of it. Most of them can't read at a 5th grade level. There was a scandal where basketball players were enrolled in classes, getting A's, but the classes didn't even exist. So yes if they're not going to be held to academic standards, by all means, make them professional players, pay them but don't give them a degree in the end. Or give them the option to take classes while they're there playing sports and getting paid for it. And then enroll as full time students after they're done with sports, but let them pay for college like everybody else. Or third option, don't pay them, they're students getting a degree and must meet academic standards first, sports second. That one might change who the schools are recruiting in the first place. I say let each school decide what they want; students who happn to play sports., or professional athletes who happen to take classes (or not).
I feel like it's cheap of the NFL to recruit from college sports instead of having a system like baseball, where there's minor league teams sort of sponsored by the major league where people can get experience and training and then the players basically work their way up to the major league teams. I don't know all that much about sports so maybe I'm missing something, but it just seems weird what a big deal college football is at some schools.
