What activities are you doing with your children? I am a stam and now that the weather is crappy we are stuck indoors. Looking for fun things to do besides playing with toys and reading books. I am down for cheap dollar store crafts, learning ideas, anything new and fun. I started a new board on Pinterest, but figured I would seek ideas from you fabulous ladies too.
Does your library have any children's events? Our library has dance parties, story time and all this fun stuff. Of course it's during the week in the morning so I can't do any of it.
I work all week so at night and on the weekends we play with toys, read books, color, or dance. Declan is really into music and dancing right now so I can put on the radio and be silly with him and it keeps him entertained. Plus I figure it's good exercise for me.

They have story time for 20 minutes twice a week for toddlers up to 36 months. Then they do crafts, but it starts at pre-k. our library is kind of lame.

I took an empty parmesan cheese container (big holes, plastic) and showed Lillie how to put q tips in the holes. She does that for a while, good for hand eye coordination. Also bought a dollar store bag of pipe cleaners (are they even called that anymore? Hah) and turn our plastic strainer upside down and stick the pipe cleaners in there.
Play-doh is fun. She likes to kick a ball around the house dribbling it soccer style (She has seen a LOT of soccer in her little life with a big brother). Hide and seek - I hide and make a noise until she finds me. Coloring with crayons and eating them
She LOVES a big bowl and some different spoons, baby spoons, plastic spoons, wooden spoons, a whisk, spatula etc. I throw some cheerios, puffs, goldfish, raisins and she "cooks" and snacks - this is great when I'm trying to make dinner.
Sitting inside a box for some reason is super fun. I throw in baby dolls or books and she will sit there happily for a while

Sensory bins- a shallow box filled with sand, rice, dirt, water, scoops, cups, spoons, empty spice or parm cheese containers
Make your own playdough- although Playdo is non-toxic I don't want the little one eating it. But the homemade stuff is flour, salt, water, oil, cream of tartar so it is safe for her to eat until she learns not to eat it
Homemade paint- again regular paint is non-toxic and she does use regular paint because big sister does. But homemade paint is so easy. I like to strip them down and stick them in the bathtub with homemade paint. After they are done painting the bathtub and themselves it is easy to rinse everything off
Library class is a good one, even just 20 min. My rec center has a good gym class for little ones, and it is way cheaper than Little Gym or Gymboree.
A lot of Chick-Fil-As have a good toddler play area, and CFA is giving away fee coffee and iced coffee all month
Coffee cans- cut slits or holes in the lid to insert various objects- pipe cleaners, straws, beans (with supervision!!!), frozen juice lids or spice lids
Ball pit- little plastic pool with balls
Search Pinterest for homemade toys and you'll find a lot of good stuff.

I forgot the empty tissue box full of ribbons and fabric scraps tied together. Pull out, throw everywhere, examine and then yell for me to put them back in. Repeat.

Yesterday I got out a moving box to play with her cars on. We have carpet so they don't roll well. Then she used it as a dance floor. And since both ends are open, she played in it as a tunnel.

For the paint I used 1/3 cup flour, 2 Tbs salt, 2 Tbs sugar and 2 cups water... then just cook until it thickens, divide it in the number of colors you want and add food color. I made half a batch and it was a good amount for one paint session.

I am going to try this tomorrow. Thanks for the recipe.

Did you find the color easy to wash off? I don't know what paint they used at school the other day, but DS's toes were blue for 3 days.

I cleaned up everything as soon as DS was done painting and it cleaned up very easily. I just wiped everything down with a washcloth. crunchymama11 was right about painting in the bathtub!
Does anyone have a good recipe for peanut butter play dough? I tried it and it came out really crumbly. I was trying the version with dried milk, because the other ones had way to much sugar.

I haven't been here in a little while! I hope everyone is doing well. We are doing good.
Waiting on the word for when D's MRI will be. I was told they might try just a face mask vs a sedated MRI via IV. That would be nice.
We were also referred to a Pediatrician by our Family DR. She just wants to be sure she didn't miss anything regarding her care. We will probably see the Ped for her 18 month well child check.
As far as my business I got one custom Poncho to finish, and then I'll start working on summer products. I'm also considering changing my business name. I just feel that having Ponchos in the name when it won't be my majority product might be confusing.
Coloring, stickers, story time/play at local library, local mommy/kiddo playgroup, reading, banging on the piano, dance parties with pandora on the front room rug, bubble "gun," sorting small edible objects (she loves moving things like Cheerios around from bowl to plate)...
