Last night I was reassuring my husband that the measles haven't gotten here yet so we have nothing to worry about. And now today.... 5 infants in a suburban daycare have been diagnosed!!!! As if the snow and cold wasn't enough to keep us inside all winter, now we are never leaving until DD is 1!

There is a case about 35 miles from us. I haven't stopped going places and doing what I need to, the big kids still have things going on and for some annoying reason they all still want to be fed which means I have to go grocery shopping. I am more careful about people touching him. I don't typically take him out of the car seat when we go somewhere. It really pisses me off that this has to be a concern now.

This literally pisses me off. So sorry you have to worry about this in 2015!
I agree with everyone else. It makes me hate people. I actually went to disneyland on new year's day the week after the measles outbreak because they had yet to announce anything with my 3 month old at the time. The news broke the week after and I was soooo freaked out and glad my baby was ok.
It makes me so mad that this is something we have to worry about, here, today. The nearest case to me is closer than I realized - only a 2 or 3 hour drive!

Try to envision this... nothing good is coming of it.
Lol. I use "literally" all the time when I'm mad. Guess that isn't quite how it should be used here. And no, not a great visual. Sorry for the scare of imagination.

Something else that I had never thought of was that measles lives on surfaces for a few hours and weeks to incubate, and going into a doctors appt with kids that don't have vaccinations... At the baby's 4mo appt, I could really smell the bleach based cleaner. Usually I'm sure it was paper change but that isn't good enough. I completely agree with physicians refusing to see kids unless they start receiving immunizations. High five to those docs!
