What baby item are you most excited for?

I know when I was pregnant with my son, I was super excited about the stroller. Do you have anything that you are looking forward to purchasing (or have already purchased and are looking forward to using)?

This can be for FTM or STM moms, maybe even something you already have used and are excited to use again!

I am picking up a used Joovy Caboose Ergo Sit n Stand with all of the accessories on Tuesday. It would retail for somewhere between $500 and $600, but I'm getting it for $125. Great deal.

I am also excited to pick out a Tula carrier.

I definitely think I'm going to look into some sort of carrier (for baby wearing) this time around. I had an el-cheapo for DS that we used on 3 distinct occasions, but I think I'll want a better one since I can see myself using it a lot more this time around. If anyone has a rec, I'd love to hear it!

Besides that...if we have to re-do the nursery for a girl, that would be fun. I have some ideas--keeping the current pale blue walls and white furniture and glider, but new linens, draperies and accessories.

Otherwise we're pretty much set. I'm going to kind of wait and see on the double stroller. I do love baby clothes, so if we find out 2.0 is a girl...game. on.

I am going to get a double stroller but I have never been a big stroller fan. The item I am most excited about is a baby sized Lenny Lamb SSC. I have a toddler sized one for DS, which we loooove! It was bought when he outgrew our Lillebaby Airflow, which we also love, but the Lenny is sooooo soft and snuggly.

We recently switched bedrooms with the kids, and due to our new layout, I'm not sure how the co-sleeper will fit in the room, so I've been thinking about getting one of those bassinet baskets that goes in the bed with you. They are really cute, and I'm pretty excited about not having to navigate around the co-sleeper this time around.

As for those asking about carriers, I used the Ergo (with the infant insert) with my youngest a lot, and then I got a Tula about 7 months ago, and I still use it frequently because it's so comfortable for both of us.

I think a bassinet. We never really had a great set up with my son due to space and I think it would have made life a bit easier.

Also a rocker. We got s super cheap one bridge and it was so uncomfortable and don't evem last long.

I wouldn't say I'm excited for a certain item. I am just excited to set up the nursery after we find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. I have two separate Pinterest boards lol one for a baby boy and one for a baby girl

rory5280 Not sure what kind of rocker you have in mind, but I have *loved* ours. We got the Peyton--not in lime green -- and matching ottoman. It was much more reasonable price-wise than Pottery Barn or similar, but the quality has been great and it's so comfy. I think I've seen this brand at BuyBuyBaby but we bought ours through a furniture store.

Since I'm team green, I prob won't be buying much. I am kind of intrigued by the milk snob covers though, so may treat myself to one of those.

I also want a tula but my ktan and beco Gemini, and ring sling are probably sufficient.

I have a moby and ergo. I loved the moby and used it way more than the ergo.

We have a Best recliner too! Omfg I could sit on that thing forever. We purposely bought it in a fabric that will transition well to the living room when our kids grow. I am keeping that chair forever.

And we bought ours from a nursery furniture store, but it was a floor model so we got a few hundred off.

I like car seats and strollers. We have a convertible seat for this kid already (company accidentally sent us two when we ordered C's) and I am thinking about getting a second GB Qbit stroller as I adore ours. It doesn't have many car seat options so until we're done with that I'll use our backup stroller that will take a Graco. We never used a bucket seat with C so I'm excited to get one for Bean. My in laws want to get us a double stroller so I'm thinking about which one I want (thinking Britax Agile double).

C will only be 20 months when Bean gets here so all of the gear research I did during her pregnancy is still relevant. I'm a bit of a baby gear junkie.

kleigh the first time I went to BuyBuyBaby while pregnant with DS, I almost had a panic attack. So overwhelming! My mom talked me off the ledge bc honestly, there is so much you don't really need. I did end up registering at BBB bc I think their salespeople are pretty helpful (in regards to car seats and strollers, especially) but we did not go overboard, and I was really satisfied with everything we chose. I talked to mom-friends about what they liked/didn't like and read reviews for certain big ticket items (swing, etc). I do think baby gear has gotten needlessly complicated/expensive in a lot of cases (ex: $300 pack n play) but that's just me

kleigh, I definitely remember how stressful and overwhelming trying to figure out what to register for was.

I used BRU, mainly because there isn't a BBB within at least 100 miles of me. But they have a big checklist that is broken down into groups. It's still overwhelming, but it's a good start when you're doing research.

My suggestion is to ask any relatives/friends if they have any baby items they aren't using that they could loan you. For example, a swing. You won't know if your babies will like a swing until they're here and you can put them in one. This way, if your babies love the swing you can buy one (or two) and if they both hate it, then you aren't out any money.

Do you have any friends that have had a baby recently? My sister took me to BRU & helped me. We just registered for the basics & I added extra stuff later online.

Yes my sister just had one last year, I wanted to do it with my husband but I'm thinking this is just gonna be easiest. Plus her hands are full with her 1 and 3 year olds (single parenting) so I might have to just be patient.

@keighttc I loved lucies list registry guide and the baby bargain book that I think comes out each year with reviews of all brands. It's overwhelming!

Yeah it's the bigger items (crib, car seat, stroller) that I really wanted to get a start on researching for budget/planning purposes since there's double the cost of everything. But I just don't know where to start, is there a dummies guide to this stuff?

I remember feeling so lost and also having a minor panic attack the day we went to register. I second the suggestion for the Baby Bargains book. It was a lifesaver for me. It's not really a "bargain" book it's more about product ratings and what are the best products. It gave me a good sense of what I should splurge on and what wasn't worth it. I also really liked having a list to follow. BRU/BBB will give you a suggested list when you start your registery but some of it is overkill! Lucie's List gives you a good idea of the basics www.lucieslist.com/baby-registry-basics/

I think relieved is a better word. I am going to be relieved when we have a stroller. They are too expensive for me to get excited about it, but it's definitely a necessity with 2u2.

I'm looking to invest in a high quality baby carrier this time around. The Infantino cheapie we had for DS was great and we used it a decent amount, but I need something I can comfortably wear all day long as I expect that #2 will be spending a lot of time in it while I chase big brother around! Contemplating a Tula even though $150 does seem a bit outrageous to me.

I am also thinking about getting a new, really awesome glider. I know they cost $$ but man would it be worth it. This is one thing I regret not having on all those long, long, awful nights with DS.

And I'm not sure if this counts but I'm excited to make some things for the baby. The nursery is already decorated for the most part (I spent soooo much time making all that stuff when I was pregnant with DS!) but I will be making a new latch hook rug for this babe (DS's will move from the nursery into his big boy room with him) and probably a painting too.

I think the part that worries me is that my sister and some other friends are "experts" on everything. LOL My sister and my personalities are very different. I want as simple as possible and she's not that person. LOL I do think she has some great advice though. I liked her suggestion about not going too crazy with one brand of diapers because depending on your baby, one may work better than another. But then she doesn't like that I don't want a baby shower!?!

I really like the suggestion of seeing if you can borrow some of the bigger ticket items (not including things you absolutely need) to allow baby to test it out. What To Expect did an article about one mom's experience and she said you don't need a baby swing because her baby didn't like it. But all of my BFF's babies loved theirs so it depends on the baby.

Yeah, I definitely should do a little more research before I open my wallet haha. Come to think of it, I believe there is a baby wearing group somewhere around where I live that will let you try on and even borrow different carriers ((off to Google))

This is absolutely true. You really have to take all advice with a grain of salt, because everyone is different. I had a friend who basically made fun of people using diaper stackers because they are completely useless. I thought that was a really dumb thing, because (a) I used it daily, and (b) why would anyone care if another person used a freaking diaper stacker? 

My feeling is that if you aren't sure about something, you can always purchase it later. It's not the end of the world. Also, don't throw away receipts, wash things, take off tags until you are sure you are going to keep things. I returned a lot of unnecessary things to exchange them for things I figured out would be useful. 

Oh, and by the way. Swing is essential, IMHO.

This. That thing saved us so many nights, sometimes it was the only way I could get DS to sleep.

We finally had to retire it when he climbed out of it at around 6 months old or so. I guess our first clue he had outgrown it was that the belt would no longer fasten around his waist, but we were in serious denial. #momoftheyear
