I'm curious about weight gain so far. It's really early but I was just curious. I've gained about 5-7 lbs depending on the day.
I'm not concerned how much I'll gain because I gained a healthy amount with my first but I'm feeling super squishy and the bloat doesn't help.
I haven't been eating the greatest and more than pre-pregnancy, obviously. My first ob appt is next Tuesday and I always get weird about being weighed at the dr. My dr has never been negative about my weight, which I appreciate.
I would have posted this in a daily random but we didn't have one today.
That's about why I gained in with E. I'd like to gain that or maybe a little less. I'm a bit more self conscious about the weight gain this time around. Don't know why though.
I lost some weight shortly after becoming pregnant which gave me a few weeks buffer.

I've probably gained 6lbs or so already. I gained a lot in the first trimester with DS too. I don't really understand why. I'm not eating horribly and I'm active when I can be.
The first doctor I had with DS (insurance changed at 7 months and I had to find a new doctor) made me feel really bad about gaining weight. My second doctor never said a word about my weight (I'm going back to him for this pregnancy).
I gained 35lbs with DS. I'd like to gain less this time, mainly because I didn't loose all of the baby weight from the first time around.
I lost almost 10 lbs in the 2 months before conceiving unintentionally while trying dairy free. I gained about 2-3 lbs so far, which I'm happy with since I'm technically underweight based on my BMI -and being really tall. I think I gained 35lbs last time, but a lot was in the first half and I was told to "lay off the carbs" at a few appts. I am curious if I will gain 35 or more to make up for staying at a lower pre-preg weight. I figure my body knows what it needs and not to focus on it as long as I'm staying active and eating relatively healthy.
I'm banking on nursing helping it fall off again, but have heard it is harder to lose the second time.

My weight fluctuates a few pounds depending on what I ate the day before and when I weigh myself. I try to stick to mornings only because I'm super bloated by the end of the day. At my nurse intake a couple weeks ago, I weighed in 5 pounds more than my normal but that was in the afternoon. The next week at my midwife appt, I was back to my normal weight in the morning. So overall, I haven't gained anything yet but I'm definitely getting puffy.
I'm also puffy but I haven't gained anything on the scale yet. I'm trying to be really on top of that. With DS I gained 5 lbs. in first trimester, and 40 lbs. total throughout my pregnancy. I lost all of that within 11 weeks of having him but then 15-20 of it crept back on. I managed to lose about 10 early this year before getting KU again.
Long story short: I'm starting out about 10 lbs heavier than I was when I got pregnant with my son, so I am trying to keep my weight gain a little more in check this time around. I'm not going to lose sleep over it, or diet obviously, but I know that I can make better choices eating-wise, and be a little less lazy exercise-wise, to keep me closer to a 30 lb. weight gain this time (or less if that's even possible).
I'm so glad we're talking about this. When I was working with my nutritionist at the RE's office pre pregnancy, she said she would've been happy if I gained 5 lbs before pregnancy because I was *slightly* underweight with an "underweight" BMI. With her recommendations I began eating dairy, whole grains (which I was not eating before that, except for brown rice once a week), and a little fat. When I found out I was pregnant (so technically 4 weeks) I had actually hit her mark, I had all the extra five pounds on me the day of my first blood test.
Since then, I've gained another 3.5 pounds but that fluctuates +-1 or 1.5lbs if it's morning or evening. That nutritionist said ideal would be a 35 lb total weight gain with these twins since I started at a very healthy weight.
If you saw me before and after though you would prob guess I've gained 15 pounds, thats how much heavier I look if it's any consolation to anyone.
I've gained maybe a pound or two, depends on the day. Until this week I have felt so crummy that I was only eating when I *had* to.
I gained 18 lbs with my first pregnancy; when I was hospitalized halfway through, I lost a few pounds, so had that not happened I would have probably ended up b/n 20-25. So that's my goal this time around. I'm tall and thin, and my doctor has said anything under 35 is fine.

I haven't gained anything. But I haven't been eating the best either, carbs with cheese is all I want! I was up 2 but then I got on the scale last week and I was down 3 so I just call it even. I also weigh first thing in the morning, what you eat really affects your weight. And I think my lack of calories from wine is really helping lol

Omg crackers with cheese have been the best thing ever!!

I've lost about 3 lbs so far. I lost 3 lbs in 1st tri with L too. Steadily gained in 2nd tri and then all through 3rd tri too. I ended up gaining 50 lbs total. I'm hoping to not gain quite as much this time, but who knows. If I do then I do. I lost all but 18 lbs of it before getting pregnant again.
I'm down 5lbs so far. But I'm sure that has a lot more to do with not being hungry, drinking all the water, and eating small meals every few hours. I am not choosing the healthiest stuff but I'm choosing what I can stomach. This is my first time so I don't know, I'm overweight so I was told to only gain 20-25lbs which I'm hoping to stick to.

starbuck27, I think I'm someone who just gains a lot of weight as well. Even when not pregnant I gain weight really easily. Also like you, I'm more active this time around, so I'm hoping that helps keep the weight gain down a little.

Awesome snack! I've also been eating quesadillas, grilled cheese, Mac and cheese, pizza...

We can help keep each other accountable for staying active. FitBit will make it easier!
Yes! I need that! I think I've only hit 10,000 steps a handful of times since I found out I was pregnant... 4 weeks ago.
I haven't gained yet and maybe lost a little. With DD, I lost 5 lbs in first tri and then gained 6 in 3rd tri. So on delivery day, I was only +1 from pre-pregnancy weight. She was 7 lbs 8 oz at birth. When I got pregnant this time, I was 26# less than when I got pregnant the first time.
Before my first pregnancy, I was on a medication that drastically slowed my metabolism. OB was never worried as I was basically gaining and losing at the same time as my metabolism returned to normal, so weight stayed the same. This time, I'm almost underweight to start with so I'm hoping to gain a healthy amount.
I've gained two and still gave a few weeks left in first tri. I was really hoping not to gain any this early. I'm trying to not go crazy on overeating but I've been so tired I haven't been as active as I normally am. I starting feeling a little better the last two days so it's time to get back on track. I gained 25 pounds with DS but I attribute that to following the GD diet the last ten weeks.
My aunt told me with DS that I'm the only pregnant person she met that looked thinner by the end of pregnancy. Thanks for the backhanded compliment.
I'm a little late to the game, but my weight is weird! I weighed myself yesterday morning and was the same weight (so no gain). Then after dinner I was up 4 pounds! Seems like a lot for one day. So I'm going to split the difference and say up 2 lbs. I gained 30 with my son and started this pregnancy at pretty much the same weight. I was more active before though, so I'm probably going to have to start doing something active again to maintain a healthy weight gain.
I am currently losing fairly significant weight. All is ok I just have a very small appetite. Hopefully the meds kick in and help because I clearly need to increase my calorie intake.
So far I haven't gained anything, but it feels like I have gained 10lbs of bloat. I'm not eating much because of nausea but what I do eat isn't exactly healthy.
I will gain all my weight in the end of the second trimester.
I gained 45-50 lbs last time, but the last 10-15 were in the last week or two and due to hypertension and pre-e. I didn't gain any weight until 16 weeks.
My weight has been up and down so far this time, because of my various issues -- swelling, fluid retention, being less active caused me to gain a few lbs. Then being really sick would cause me to drop a few. Back and forth.
Overall, at 10w2d, I am down 5.5 lbs from the day that I found out that I was pregnant. I think I am close to hitting bottom -- if not already there -- then it will start the upward trend.

PLEASE let my normal appetite return for 2nd tri. PLEASE. Can any of you veterans tell me if your appetite made a full recovery in your previous 2nd trimesters?
I'm up 2 lbs. for me my weight only "counts" in the morning. occasionally i'll get curious in the evening and it will be 5+ lbs more than any AM. My belly is SO much bigger at night too. It's pretty funny.
I try so hard to eat healthy and it's just not possible for me right now. I'm so nauseous. But I have to EAT - so if bagel sandwiches and burritos and fruit are what get me there so be it. I am normally mostly paleo, and it's completely impossible when meat sounds gross and so do most cooked veggies! so frustrating, it's like i don't even know what i like eating anymore.
@staceylhajj I don't recall aversions quite as strong last time but I think I ate totally normal after the first tri. We eat really healthy normally but proteins and veggies are just not appealing. All the starches and carbs.

Honestly it just depends. Last time I had a voracious appetite and no aversions first tri, 2nd tri it normalized.
I am looking forward to 2nd tri this time around so maybe food sounds more appetizing.
I'm almost 12 weeks now and my appetite is already starting to calm down. So hopefully the end is near for many of you! I also remember my appetite and motivation returning to relative normal after first tri.
artmusiclife I definitely ate better as my pregnancy progressed last time. I'm having a really hard time with food right now too. Bagels or toast for breakfast, ginger soup for lunch, and try to eat something other than a sandwich for supper (usually ends up being rice or potato). I have started adding avocado to my sandwiches and that's working well. Will try to add another new thing in a few days.
Avocado started to be appealing to me in the past 2 weeks and i've eaten tons! Avocado on toast almost every morning. I take my vitamins with it, since I've heard several vitamins should be taken with fat to better absorb.

artmusiclife I'll be 12 weeks on Tuesday and this past week was the first where I was finally eating real food at normal times. I still have some aversions, but it's more of the hungover feeling I had at five weeks. My weight has fluctuated so much day to day even while taking it at the same exact time that I honestly can't tell if I've gained or stayed the same. Visually though I'm looking less...doughy..since I've started eating more variety this week and finally getting and keeping down more liquids. By dinner time though, forget about it. My scrubs are untied and the belly looks like it did when I was 18 weeks.
