DH and I love the name Lila, but we don't want anything too popular/trendy. I have an extremely popular name for my age group and hated it. I looked up the name ranking for it and it looks like it wasn't even in the top 100 last year, but then I saw an article saying it was one of the hottest names on the rise and would probably be top 10 within the next few years. So, this may be a silly question or thing to worry about, but do you all think this is a name that is super trendy or going to be soon? Would love any input. Thanks!

I haven't looked at the charts but it doesn't seem to be popular in my area. I know zero people with this name and I haven't heard of any at my nephew's daycare. I'm just curious, how are you pronouncing it?

It has potential to be popular. It wasn't on the radar at all until 2009, when it debuted at 167. That's a HUGE fucking jump. It has dropped to 192 as of 2013, but still. With a debut that high, I can see it going trendy and popular.
Lyra is similar in sound, and a much better name overall. It's not in the top 1000 yet, so definitely nowhere near popular.

We have a Lila. (We spell it Lilah) Only one in our area that I have seen so far. I get compliments on it mostly. I think it has potential to be popular, but it doesn't bother me. Getting DH to agree to a name is more important.
I don't think it will ever be top 10 but I do think it will get more popular. It could easily be the next Evelyn, Violet, Hazel type. I'm not sure what you consider too popular to use though. To me if a name is lovely enough it is never too popular.
Lila might not be getting too popular on its own, but there's also Lilah, Lily, Lilly, Lillian, and Liliana. Add those all together, and I'd stay away from it for popularity reasons.
I generally like Lila but I do consider it trendy, not sure if it will ever be top 10, but trendy. I agree with violette all of the "Lil" names are kind of like all of the Addy and Ellie girl names.
I think we will probably end up sticking with Lila but who knows. Luckily we still have some time to make the final decision. It seems like it's popular but maybe not too terribly trendy. Thanks everyone for your input!
