abvintage,Watt is a defensive player, you can't draft him! Well, unless you take the whole texans D.
Haha that came out wrong......
GDammit! I hate to be this stupid. I love watching football but I have no idea what the F is going on. DH played college ball too so I should really know more, lol.
I kinda loved my body proportions at the end of pregnancy. Like I ligit felt like I looked pretty damn good for being 6-9 months pregnant. Now I'm back to scaring myself when I catch a glimpse in the mirror, lol.
Also, stomach sleeping is EVERYTHING! Even if I'm about as disoriented when I wake up for night feedings as this:
I'm on the Heather Mini Pill right now but I'm really sucky at remembering to take BC pills. We also will be charting and just avoiding during that time as well as always using the pull-out method. Yeah, I'm hoping I don't get knocked up.
I was thinking about an IUD but I have a few questions. 1. Isn't it like, crazy expensive? 2. I've heard horror stories. I know when you look at the numbers given they seem really low but I know a few people who have told me they had major issues. Anyone here have issues? Which IUD do y'all recommend and why?
Alrighty. We've had an ultrasound, a mri scan, an x ray, and a partridge in a part tree. Ultrasound shows that the left side is not draining properly. Confirmed by mri. Plan right now is to put in a second catheter in the right side and connect it to the shunt. It's like headphone cords. The thinking is that the meningitis caused some kind of blockage between the ventricles that isn't allowing it to drain.
So we are admitted and waiting on a room. I feel like a germophobe psycho because the whole ER is just giving me this vibe of contamination.
Oh I'm so sorry Mo. Stay strong. I'm glad they are getting it taken care of.
I'm starting to feel like breast feeding is overrated. Lately the baby just wants to be on the boobs 24/7. She's getting plenty to eat, she just wants to eat all day long. My first would only be on the boob to eat (including cluster feedings) this one..... Boob all day everyday, my nipples are getting tongue burn. If I give the baby a bottle of formula it seems to satisfy her more. She'll actually hang out in her swing for an hour or more while I tend to my toddler. I can't give DD1 the attention she deserves with a baby constantly on my boobs, and I get frustrated with the baby because she's constantly on me. I feel bad but I'm almost ready to throw in the towel on this whole thing.
A few things. You may want to ask your LC or Pediatrician amount the tounge burn thing. It could be a sign she's already developing tounge thrust. Also is there a chance she's not getting hind milk? You may want to pump about 10 min before you give the boob because maybe she's not getting to the higher calorie/more filling part of the milk and that could be why she's hungry so frequently. Also maybe try baby wearing while she has a paci in and see if that might satisfy her. I think it's totally reasonable to give formula a couple times a day and breastfeed the others if it saves you some sanity.
Your situation sounds a lot like mine as far as progression goes. Ask them about massaging the cervix. It's going to hurt like a total bitch but it might get things moving. My cervix had started swelling about 14 hours in and I went I with broken waters so it wasn't an option for me but it might work. Also the Foley Bulb. Ask about that too!
At what point is it ok for baby to go 4 hours between feedings (at least at night)? Do you just wait for the pediatrician to tell you, or is there a general weeks-old guideline for this?
LO is 2 weeks old and we're nursing on demand. We aim for the recommended "every 2 hours" but she often is eating on-and-off over the course of 1.5 hours, and it seems silly to wake her up half hour later to start all over.
If talk to your pedi but ours told us it was ok to go up to 5 hours at 2 week appt but only because he had gained back most of the weight he had lost. I start a timer on my phone for 2.5hr as soon as he finishes eating. At night I set two 4 hour timers. I do it at the end of his feedings though no like 8am, 10am, etc. maybe that is incorrect but he's eating at least 8x a day and my understanding is 8-12 feedings a day for the first month.
I was only feeding him about 1-3oz each time from the weighted feeding with the lactation consultant. That was after about a 40 min feeding giving him both breasts. I was only pumping about 1-2oz each time. I started right after that. I didn't buy the baby scale for at least another week so I wasn't able to start weighted feedings on my own to know how much I was giving him but he finally started gaining weight. I really started doing all the things when he hit his first growth spurt because my nipples were hurting so f'ing bad I wanted to get my supply up ASAP. We just went through his 3rd growth spurt and this morning I pumped 6oz and last night I got 7oz!
Edit: both of those were power pumping sessions.
Did you not feel like a constant moo factory with this power Pumping thing? I think I need to do something of the sort but I'm afraid I'll feel like just a milk factory and not quite human I dunno. I really do need to increase my production and I think this seems like a logical way. Just hesitant to commit I guess. Sigh.
Honest truth, it's kind of nice. Lol. We give him a bottle of breastmilk while I do it so it's way less painful then BFing AND I get to sit and watch a TV show while I do it because I have to just sit there, so for me it's a break. Sometimes I'll power pump in between his feedings but that's pretty rare. Even if you did it just a few times it would probably work. I say give it a shot and see if you can't at least get one feeding a day with little to no nipple abuse!
I called the pediatrician because it says in our little welcome packet to call if they are inconsolable for more than an hour. I also found her shunt paperwork and fussiness can be a symptom of it not working. There's also a thing called sunset eyes where the pressure is building up. She's been having wide eyes a lot the past couple of days. I mentioned sunset eyes, fussy, and shunt, and they want me to come in today. Appointment in 2 hours. So now I'm in panic mode.
abvintage, how low was your supply if you don't mind me asking? And when did you start trying these tricks?
I was only feeding him about 1-3oz each time from the weighted feeding with the lactation consultant. That was after about a 40 min feeding giving him both breasts. I was only pumping about 1-2oz each time. I started right after that. I lost all the weight in 2 weeks but things have shifted so much most of my old clothes don't fit especially all my damn jeans! I'll be wearing maternity jeans until it's socially unacceptable for me to be wearing them anymore!
I don't really have the bruising but I have nerve pain on my belly from about 1.5" above the incision to about 1" above my belly button. I haven't been bleeding at all lately but I was told if you are seeing red or pink again at this point it's a sign you need take it easier. You've done too much.
Good morning ladies, sorry I missed out on Thursday things were just -well you know. So some of you may remember my FFFC that I use a dinosaur IPOD to surf the net. Well my loving DH who detests too much screen time decided to get me a tablet AS a push present , and I love it but NOW I have a learing curve issue because it is not an apple , did I mention he also really hates apple. SO IF THIS POST LOOKS TUCKED UP, that is why. WHY DOES IT MAKE DOUBLE SPACE AFTER EACH WORD?HOW DO I STOP YELLING? AS the TABLET TURNs.
Guys, was looking through some christmas photos and just realized this picture of DS is the most stereotypically Canadian pic ever and had a good laugh.
Rocking his new pjs, beaver fur hat, and his new hockey helmet in the background. Lol I wish he was holding maple syrup too.
You need to redo this pic, exactly as described, and you got yourself the best holiday card EVER!
abvintage could you point me toward the supply support recs please? I'm on mobile and can't find them. Thank you
Sure, I'll actually just type it up:
#1 - Power Pumping -. To power pump you really need an hour to sit down and do it so make sure LO has just gone down for a nap or DH can watch him during that time. Repeat this 2x a day for a few days. Here is the cycle: Pump 10-20 min Rest 10 min Pump 10 min Rest 10 min Pump 10 min
#2 You can pump for up to 10 minutes immediately before you nurse LO. Babies are way better at getting milk out than your pump so you should have supply. If you are worried you won't have enough if you do that or have a screaming, crying baby then:
#3 Pump immediately after you nurse +5 min after you've stopped dripping. It will signal your body to make more next time.
^These helped me the most. They gets my supply up long term it seems. The next ones I saw a lesser impact, but still helped.
#4 Fenugreek capsules. I'm still unclear about how long you should be taking the recommended dose but I stopped after a few days because I was getting pretty engorged.
#6 I'm not sure if these are coincidence but I feel like they helped me; 2 bottles of Proppel a day and/or coconut water.
That's everything that I've been told by my LC, tried, and seemed to work. Hope this helps. Expect results after a few days. The pumping methods really were the best but a major pain in the ass!
Side note: make sure you are drinking plenty of water and eating enough.
Our dog avoids him like the plague. She just yesterday got pretty close and smelled his head and then jumped off the bed. Babies are a whole lotta nope for our dog. I'm just hoping it's not an issue later.
Does anyone else have nightmares about dropping baby? Seriously, they are on constant replay for me. Being a new mom is scary as shit as it is. Stop making it worse brain!
So Little Miss A is 9 days old and happily eating 3oz per feeding. Is this alright? She has the average amount of dirty diapers and I haven't had any issues with spitting up, i just don't want to over do it...
The consensus I've heard is you can't over feed baby. I've never heard of a pediatrician telling someone to scale back what they are feeding baby. You should be good.
