Power just went out in my neighborhood. So worried about my almost 100 oz of frozen breastmilk. Off to the store for ice, I guess?
A freezer will stay cold and keep things frozen with no power for 24 to 48 hours depending on how full it is. Just keep the freezer door closed and it should be fine. Refrigerate is 4 hours.
Two nights in a row we've heard noises around our house. Lastnight, it sounded like someone was pushing up against the siding by my window. Tonight, SO and I both beard a huge thud against the door, and then something fall against it. That's two nights in a row, at midnight both nights. So we called the cops.
They walked around our house to check everything out, and they found that someone has been trying to take the screen off of our window. They've been pulling out the rubber lining, so the whole bottom part of the screen can be rolled up now...
I'm completely freaked out now and don't want to go to sleep.
Omg! That's scary! I hope whoever is doing that doesn't come back!
DH and I are dying to see a movie (FWP), so we're going to try taking LO to a drive-in theater tonight. Noise isn't as much of a concern as in a traditional theater, plus I can BF easily and discreetly.
I really hope it doesn't crash and burn. The August budget doesn't have anything left for a sitter and a movie or we'd go that route.
Let me know how it goes. We ALMOST did that tonight too.
It actually went great! He fussed a little from time to time, but it wasn't a big deal since the whole context is so family-friendly. I think he was a little thrown by it being dark and not being able to see us well, but I nursed him and rocked him to sleep in his carseat and he slept through the second half of the movie.
It was also so nice to be able to nurse him without a cover! We'll definitely be doing that again when we're itching to see a movie.
Thank you for the concern everyone. Since it happened at midnight both nights, the cops are going to do a drive through tomorrow night around the same time to see if they can figure out who is doing it. This isn't the first time we've had trouble in this neighborhood, unfortunately, but we're not in a good position to move right now.
Hopefully it's just the teenagers running amok, and not someone with bad intentions. Otherwise, they'll be meeting the wrong end of my hand gun. This mama doesn't mess around.

Oh my gosh, that's terrifying!! Stay safe, I hope the cops figure out what's going on.

@sastahlman do you guys have one of those "pump-action" guns?? I doubt they will be back tomorrow, or within the week because I'm sure they watched the cop. You need something to scare the shit out of them next time. I'm not a gun fan, so an unloaded one of these is all I'd be comfortable with. But the sound will rock your world if you aren't expecting it!
I'm so sorry that's happening to you guys!! I wouldn't be able to sleep either!
Oh! Does your baby monitor have night vision? Maybe you could set it up facing out the window or door one night and record what it picks up?? Just a thought.
Is anyone else's child playing at the breast? D keeps popping off, smiling, looking around, then relatching himself. It's like it's a personal goal to figure out how to get the perfect latch on his own.
He also tries to help me get him on initially, which ends up making it way more difficult!
Chinese food = delicious my DH was the one who introduced me to the wonders of crab Rangoon...drool
@jraeohyeaaa and @babyweh I love me some fantasy football! My family has had a league for the last 4 years. Lots of trash talk but it's so much fun. We had our in person draft last week. I would so be down for a M15 league!
H wants us to do an in person draft at Buffalo Wild Wings this year for our new league. I'm nervous about being stuck at a restaurant for like 4 hours with baby!
cbrandt1 DH isn't allowed anywhere near me while we're nursing these days bc DD stops instantly and has to see where he is. She is so distracted and just pops on and off.
Want all the treats! I was preping dinner and told dh what I wanted bc it was almost bedtime. Stagrt to nurse S to bed (yes I do that, is it a bad choice?) dh barges in and asks a bunch of questions! Wtf dh! I'm trying to get her to sleep, no distractions gah! TP! Figure it out yourself, or text me!
From what I've gathered around here, it's only a bad choice if you don't want it to become the only way she goes to sleep. I nurse mine to sleep too. I don't mind. I like that quiet time with her and it gets her to sleep fast and easy.
My H did almost the same thing last night. Luckily our DD isn't easily disturbed, but I still like to keep it dark and quiet during bedtime. He comes in all like, what do you want to do after she's down? Uhhh let's wait until she's down then we can talk about it GTFO Hahah
From what I've reAd, it only becomes a big problem if during regressions they associate the only way to get to sleep is your boob and they when they cycle in and out of sleep all night, they wake themselves all the way up wanting boob before they can fall back asleep.

Yea we did it at my sister's house which was nice and I just set up the PNP and put her down in another room since we did it in the evening. Everyone was super understanding when I had to put her to bed. 4 hours at a restaurant sounds awful
Why do I wake up starving every morning. I think I need to snack during MOTN.
And we're up for the day...bottle prepping and laundry/folding (mounds of it) are on my to-do's. DH is installing hardwoods in our guest room today, interested to see if B naps through that noise...

Holy shit! That's so scary. Good thing you called the cops! Id be sleeping with a knife under my pillow for sure.
Today, my widowed friend and his son are coming over for dinner. I haven't seen them in a while, and I'm just heartbroken over their situation. I've been friends with this guy for ten years... I hope that having a night off from cooking (a few, actually, because my mom is going to drop off some stuff for them to take home) will ease a little bit of the stress :/
Posting before reading, but my a/c is broken and H is taking his youth group to six flags today, so I'm stuck in the house on an 86 degree day by myself with 3 kids and no a/c! T&Ps for my sanity! I'd go to the mall or something but nothing opens until 11:00 on Sundays. It's only 9!
