So I'm only seven weeks, but being obsessed with getting the name right, H and I are already discussing possible boys' name. Our daughter is Laura Katherine, Laura having always been H's favourite name. If the new baby is another girl she will almost certainly be Hester, which has always been my favourite name. We have Rebecca in reserve in case we have a girl and she doesn't look like a Hester.
We have always found it a lot harder to agree on boys' names. We agreed on Rowan before we found out Laura was a girl, but we know two babies close to Laura's age called Rowan. We're becoming good friends with the parents of one of the Rowans and whilst I don't think that means we can't use the name, H isn't sure.
We have a few rules. No repeat first initials, so J, C and L names are out. Our surname begins with D and we don't want the initials to spell anything - that excluded a lot of potential middle names for Laura. The middle name will be Jacob after my deceased brother.
So far, H has suggested Peter, which I find dull. I've suggested Robin, which he thinks might be wet because it can be a girl's name (grr). We both like Sam, but we have a nephew called Sammy. (We have a niece called Esther, but although Esther and Hester are closely related they're not actually the same. Also, Esther is grown up and Sammy isn't.)
We also have a new problem that H revealed last night: he thinks most male names sound as if they belong to a grown up, not a baby. I told him that he just has to get over that.
TL:DR we have loads of time and are quite fussy, but would appreciate some ideas, please :-)
